Not in the sense that they all sound like country-pop songs — that's a given — but in the sense that even the lyrics are carbon copies of each other. Truck - check. Dirt road - check. Sugar shaker in painted-on jeans - check.

All Country Songs Are The Same

In the hopes that country music fans "will stop settling for this derivative junk," Smith made a video to illustrate his point. "I'm holding up a mirror to a genre I care a lot about," he tweeted. "Here's to better music in 2014."

Posted this year and last year, it's complete garbage.

What kind of people actually tune in to that on the radio, it amazes me at what entertains sometimes.

I was almost embarrassed for the singers but in even more embarrassed for someone that would purchase one of those songs in iTunes.

Country music today is completely putrid. I rarely listen to it and on those rare occasions that I do so I regret it.

It is the most empty, shallow, trivial piffle form of music today.

I've commented on this so many times. Recycled themes and all the new music just sounds like a redneck derivative of rap music. It's pretty awful outside a handful of songs.

When 99% of managers pull 100% of their artist's songs from the same song bank, you're gonna get the same material. Yes there is a song bank that writers have been filling with songs for years, and yes almost all of the new country songs come from that song bank

wait.. so you're telling me guys like to pick up girls and drink beer? color me shocked

is it really hard to understand this music is made for college people? party, drink, chicks,of course they are gonna put trucks in that equation instead of a compact car

people are gonna play songs that will get them laid

listening to a song about johnnys daddy taking him fishing is not gonna be a huge hit at a party

No, but a certain song about strawberry wine got me a lot more and better quality women than anything Colt Ford ever sang.

I just hate how just because certain people dont like it it means it "Terrible" and blah blah blah.

I enjoy it because I feel it's the music that I can most connect with. I'm a person that makes it rain $100 bills in da club. Or some hard arse rocker guy.

I'm someone from a Blinking red light town that used to go out in the woods and fields with my buddies and drink beer in Highschool and such. Sorry that I relate more to that kind of music.

If you wanna say the music sucks in your opinion go ahead and say that. But in my opinion it's pretty damn good

It would be much easier to make one of these for rap and pop music as well though for sure

This is what gets me about country music. It's a shallow genre with no depth in the song writing at all. It's written to appeal to the lowest common denominator of a certain segment of society. I had this discussion with a waitress in a restaurant once and I told her I could write her a country song in less than 5 minutes. I put every cliche I could think of in it regarding cold beer, plowin' fields, dusty roads, fishin, hard workin' and of course Old Hank as well. She thought it was funny, but the next time I saw her the first thing she said was how spot on the song was.

Country music is as phony and contrived as the hair bands of the 80's
