Help...How to get this stupid bird from building a nest on my porch?

There's this bird that keeps trying to build a nest right near the front door. Every time a get home this little fricker has put a pile of twigs and mud and shite right near the column he keeps trying to build a nest on top of...and every day I come home and remove them but it still does it the next day...it's too messy and an eyesore to have there so its not an option to let it build a nest there. Any suggestions?

Fake owl or fake snake (fnake?) will work. We use them to keep birds out if our boat lift.

The birds threw fake snakes off the top of my columns and kept building.
