Moving to The Crescent next month and looking for cable/internet options. Cox is the only provider allowed through The Crescent so options are limited.

Just wondering about packages and channel options. Any first hand experience/ advice would be appreciated.

Don't really care about movie channels, just worried about what sort of sports channels I can look forward to. I don't like the idea of no CST....

where in Lafayette.. some parts of the city get LUS fiber internet and tv..

for cox u probably only need cox bronze bundle.. you'll get awesome internet at 25mb down and like 300+ channels.. and a phone.. i think for 99 or so for a year.. you may say well i don't need the phone or whatever.. however it's actually cheaper when you bundle the 3.. then if you do a custom bundle without the phone.. weird i know..

i'd recommend getting contour since you can get it installed for free being a new user and it's awesome. the contour box itself is only like $10 extra any ways.. it's a dvr that lets you record up to 6 shows at once and you can also use your ipad or computer with it. but also just speak to a person on the sales department on the phone.. they can also offer you deals that sometimes don't show up in store or whatever..

be sure though to make sure you get free install and contour. also ask about price lock for 2 years if you plan to stay.. by the way.. you don't ever have to honor that with cox.. you can still back out any time on the 2 year price lock.

How's the guide software with the contour box? Does it look like it's from the 70's like their standard hd box guide? Is it laggy at all?

The contour guide sucks, even compared to the old style box. It loses connection to the server often so a search gets no hits and you must unplug it to reboot it to start working again. The only thing good about contour is the 6 tuners and larger capacity.

Thanks for the info. I think we are leaning towards the Bronze. We will be in the Crescent in River Ranch.

Gonna call Monday and get some more details.

Is the LUS like the fiber optic that uverse offers?

yw.

yes LUS is fiber optic.. incredible internet.. and they offer tv. however it's only available like in the very city itself.. kinda limited so I'm not sure if it will be available for you. cox's internet in itself is pretty dang good. i get like 65 mb down and i'm only paying for one of the middle packages.

i don't have an issue with the contour layout.. except for i can't figure how to go back to info from previous stuff on.. like it won't go back to see what was on before..

there are different options on the layout to choose from i believe. again though you definitely want to get it installed since it will be free. it takes a really strong signal for them to install it so whoever is having freezing issues may of not had a great install? not sure.. but i don't have those issues.
