He still won't sit for an interview or even talk to a reporter on the way to his car in this case, much less actually debate McDaniel. His handlers told Dana he was getting into a specific car, then as soon as the staffers saw Dana at that car waiting for him, they walked back inside and sent Thad to a different car.

They interview McDaniel in a video at the top of the
CNN Story

quote:

We wanted to ask Cochran himself why he thinks he should get another six years, after serving 36 in the U.S. Senate and six before that in the House. But Cochran is trying to run out the clock and avoid unforced errors -- and going to head-scratching extremes to avoid talking to reporters like us.

We tried to catch Cochran after his event in Vicksburg, but when an aide came out and saw us waiting, they did a bait and switch -- the car they told us Cochran was getting into screeched away without him, while he snuck out another door and left in another car, leaving reporters in the dust.

If my opponent was McDaniel, I'd be shutting up and hoping he hung himself too.

He's either scared to answer questions about his record in Washington, or he's too old and feeble minded to prepare and intelligently answer questions from his opponent. Both are terrible and the American tax payers are the ones who suffer.

Or, he wants to seize an opportunity to win an election because his opponent's supporters are felonious.

Agreed. His election will tell us a lot about the generals public's feelings on term limits. If Cochran wins, it will be because a majority values "power " over principal.

The rumor floating (or being floated depending on perspective) is that he has dementia. The theory as to why one would run with a debilitated brain is (1) because he will win; and (2) he saves a spot for his replacement when he steps down in a year or two; and (3) the governor will appoint his replacement which is sure to be of the same Barbour GOP cloth; and (4) that person will continue to be a cash cow for Barbour and those that lobby for MS and GOP causes.

**That said, I cannot imagine why anyone would support either McDaniel or Thad. If they are the representatives of the two major factions of the GOP, then the GOP is done.

I don't think anyone on here is trying to say McDaniel is the perfect candidate but McDaniel will vote with the Lees and Paul's of the senate instead of whoever let's him sneak in his deals for his lobbyist buddies back home. Thats a good start. I agree, there are probably better candidates out there somewhere but McDaniel was the only one willing to stand up and challenge the system we've been stuck with for so long.

And the media is stacked against him. I applaud him for refusing to fall into their traps.
