3 a week

Let's go with this - I think it makes it a little less "insane" in the mind of the watcher as well - and if a few people get behind we can "change it up" and do 2 one week etc. to allows others to catch up (I know sometimes my life can get insane)

Yeah that's fine; we can start at three a week. If we get rolling and people want to add one, we can, or if people can't keep up, we can knock it down to two.

Keep the suggestions rolling in, and those in the thread already can keep suggesting ways to handle the discussion and whatnot. I'll let this thread go for another few days and through the weekend to make sure people get the chance to see it and participate, and then next week we can start the show.

I'm pretty pumped about this.

I'm definitely down for this. I'm in the process of selling my house and buying another one and moving, so things could get pretty hectic. But if I need to binge watch 10 episodes on a Saturday to catch up then I'll do what must be done.

what if you haven't ever watched Fringe before? Can you participate in this thread? Should I start episode 1 of season 1 now?

I wouldn't come in this thread. Even though there will be discussion of the episodes. I am sure there will be plenty of pointing things out that tie into the future episodes.

Just start watching and haul arse until you finish the series and can join in. If we are doing 3 a week, just watch more. You will want to do that anyway.

I like 2-3 a week. 4 will be very tough.

Yeah I think 3 would be perfect.

Question: would we have one big continuous thread or a different one dedicated to each week? Either one is perfectly fine IMO.

But I was going to suggest that if we did a thread weekly maybe we could take turns starting the thread and giving out initial thoughts/feelings/notices about each of the episodes. Then after that discussion it could devolve into a GOT-like discussion in which we just talk about whatever is on our mind re: the show.

Sure, you're welcome to join in. But realize that there will be some spoilerish discussion as the show progresses though. For the most part, the discussions will focus on the episodes at hand, but I assume it will eventually get into comparing the current episodes to future ones and tying things together.

So while it could be a cool way to ingest the series, you might want to participate at your own risk of being spoiled here and there. But obviously, first-timers are more than welcome if that doesn't bother you.

Also, it seems like three per week is the general consensus for the pace. That works for me. And like I said, if most people can do more, we can always add an additional one if need be (or lose one if the pace is too fast).

It'll just be one thread (possibly even this one)...no need to have multiple Fringe threads running around the board. And with one thread, all the discussion will be contained to one spot. As I said earlier, I'll keep up with the OP and keep it updated with where we are in the series, as well as where (page numbers) the new episode discussions take place, so people can join in when and where they want to.

I decided to turn on the first episode last night (I only made it to like 25 minutes... still trying to finish season 2 of House of Cards) - it's soo weird seeing Olivia trying to save someone that isn't Peter

I'm pumped to see the first season again...back when it was sort of the monster of the week episodes. I know some hate on them, but I loved them back when they aired. It was so cool to me, the whole "fringe science" aspect of the show.

with age I have grown to enjoy procedural drama a bit more. On Person of Interest I absolutely LOVE the overall plot - but I really really like the episodes that are a 1 off / done episodes as well. With age, character development has become a much bigger issue with me as well - it's why I feel Supernatural was soooo good this season, the brothers relationship was front and center.

Season 1 of Fringe was 100% needed - it makes you love the characters, I equate it to the first 6 chapters of a novel... maybe a little bit slower, but it gives you a love for the characters

Did she respond to you?

Also, even if she does, from what you said I doubt she'd have the time to devote a rewatch of 100 episodes to something like this.
