Episode 4: "Subject 9" - I wish we could have saw more of mark actual powers in this episode. on a side not Chadwick Boseman career seems to be on the rise lately. Also who eats raisin bread

Episode 5: "Novation" - I don't know why charlie isn't alive in the alternate timeline. Olivia was very distrusting of Nina in the beginning of the series and in the fantasy episodes shes always evil I wonder why they made her a mother figure to Olivia

Episode 6: "And Those We've Left Behind" This episode has to be the new timeline version of the episode white tulip. I feel the engineer may have had the worst situation out of the two. He should have kept more than one copy of the formula

OP isted with new episodes for this week, and I corrected some of the Fringepedia links.

Finally, now that I'm back in town, here are my thoughts for the previous three episodes:

Subject 9

Some Poltergeist-type shite going on here..freaky.

Now Liv can remember shite from her childhood like the fire? First however many seasons, she had no idea that had happened.

Orange opening...amber? Weird.

Walter to Nina GFY.

Astrid doesn't know about the cortexiphan trials? What the hell? This is confusing.

Is this kid's building the same one we see later (S5?) when they do the weird steps thing to find that portal thing? It looks the same as I remember on the outside..

Why are they still calling the cortex dude Cameron> he just said it wasn't his name and told them the story about his terrible dad.

Why would Liv irresponsibly shoot her gun into the air? Shoot that shite down, girl...you could hurt someone like that.

Peter in the lake. WTF?

So the energy was "displaced" and that allowed Peter to appear in Reiden Lake. That's how he comes back? I don't remember that at all...and it doesn't make the most sense to me either. Oh well..

Novation

Cool beginning with the dude's girlfriend being a shapeshifter and that whole reveal.

So they don't remember Observers either?

For the two worlds to heal, Peter had to be "deleted," but the universes are deteriorating; he just said that. How does that make sense?

Glad Peter wasn't gone for too long..

I don't understand why Nina would've adopted Liv and her sister. Why would Peter being "deleted" change that?

These people are all some of the worst shots I've ever seen.

I assume that agent will be the shapeshifter.

It's cool how the doc came around to what William Bell was talking about. "Some things are not ours to tamper with." And he now realizes that he ultimately caused his wife's death. Cool scene.

Boom. Pretty obvious that the agent was the ss.

Dammit, Walter...walking out on Peter. Guess that's gonna take a while for him to come around. And him feeling like Peter is a temptation to see if he will repeat his past mistakes is a weird way to look at it. But cool nonetheless. And as always, John Noble is awesome.

"We're sending the others.." Oh shite...is shite about to go down? A lot of this is a bit confusing, but I like where it's headed..

And Those We've Left Behind

This "perfect day" with Peter and Liv (in his dream)...that looks an awful lot like the same day the Observers came and they lose Etta. Is it?

Why in the frick would you tell your little girl that "you never know when a spider is gonna get you"?!?

Time anachronisms and the little girl changing into her infant self...I think I remember this episode.

Peter just gave Liv the "Yeah, I've fricked you before" look.

Milton!

I remember this episode being cool.

Time bubble that instantly kills people. Let's walk right up to it not knowing exactly what its boundaries are. Good idea..

Why didn't Peter just say who he was to begin with?

Peter, you just poked a hole in someone's car. Now the government will have to pay to have it fixed.

Lincoln is just filming that shite instead of running for his life?

I'm not sure she had enough time to scratch all of that out and leave him the little note/message, but it was a cool ending nonetheless.

I like the way this is all amping up.

At least you're alive...I was worried about this thread when neither you nor catholic had commented in a week or more. I was gonna bump it this morning and hope for the best, and my alternative was gonna be to just finish out the series on my own.

I still have two episodes to watch from this past week, but hope to knock those out in the next day or two. And we still need to discuss the previous week's episodes.

I'll update the OP with this week's episodes now though.

I saw that.

At least Myth is caught up though. I know ctf said he was a little behind, so hopefully he had a chance to catch back up over the holiday.

I thought you planned on catching up over the weekend?

How far behind are you now?

And Myth...well he's normally the one out in front with his Monday morning posts coming on Sunday evenings. And even he's behind. I feel like we can't get halfway through S4 and then quit.

catching up from last week to episode 7 this week. brief comment on each episode.

sorry for not commenting,, I'll try to be better this week. tough time of year for me exams next week had 2 papers due int eh last couple weeks. After next Wednesday I'm free for a few weeks.

Episode 4

This was a great episode. They always seem to be surrounding peter. I'm so glad that peterless stuff only lasted 4 episodes. The show wasn't the same without peter, it's hard to take out a key ingredient of a show and expect the same success.

Episode 5
Shape Shifters are back and better then ever scary. Now Myth doesn't have the complaining about why don't they just test their blood. I'm interested to see how this all plays out in the future.

Episode 6
This was also a very good episode and peter is getting more and more involved. I still don't like Walter having to stay in the lab all the time.

Episode 7

I didn't like this episode as much, I don't know why it just wasn't as interesting. An invisible guy walking around killing people, trying to pigment himself. That wasn't that cool of a monster of the week. Apparently his pigmenting himself causes him to die eventually? Just didn't like the episode that much. Interesting concept but just boring.

more to come later today, I think.

I'm not far behind I just didn't comment last week.

I usually reacted to myth's posts instead of starting my own discussion. I looked in the movie/tv board daily, but I never went to look for the thread, it was rarely on page 1.

I watched ep 7 recently can easily be caught up to 9 by this evening.

Well bring it, son.

Yeah, I have E9 left to watch for this past week, and will likely catch it tonight. And I have all my notes in my phone for the thread. But we still haven't discussed 4-6 yet from a couple weeks ago.

(well, I did, but nobody else did except for jam briefly)

I agree, although I am not crazy about Peter being in this alternate timeline sort of situation...I don't remember how long it takes for him to get back to "his life," but I hope it's soon. I'm just not a fan of him being the outsider, not being with Liv, Walter not liking/trusting him, etc.

Hopefully it doesn't take all of S4 for things to get back to normal there.

Yes.

But don't let your Fringe assigments slip though. I watched About a Boy and caught up with the show (about half through S2 right now on TV) in the last couple weeks, but still found time to get my three Fringe episodes in.

The best thing about us doing three a week is that it's right about two hours total for all three. So it's not too hard to find a couple hours in a seven day span.

I'll type up my thoughts and comments for 7-9 tomorrow after I finish up with E9.

I know we aren't on these episodes but to start discussion I'm going to comment.

Subject 9

quote:

never thought of that pretty funny

quote:

Astrid doesn't know about the cortexiphan trials? What the hell? This is confusing.

the whole thing about the change in timeline brings about many issues. I just don't think it was a good idea. The span from near the end of season 3 and the first few episodes of season 4 well just didn't work that well.

quote:

Is this kid's building the same one we see later (S5?) when they do the weird steps thing to find that portal thing? It looks the same as I remember on the outside..

I don't remember this.

quote:

Why would Liv irresponsibly shoot her gun into the air? Shoot that shite down, girl...you could hurt someone like that.

quote:

Peter in the lake. WTF?

yeah crazy, this wasn't to big of a surprise even the first time I saw it happen. It was pretty obvious that somehow peter would be brought back into the show when I first watched it.

novation

quote:

Cool beginning with the dude's girlfriend being a shapeshifter and that whole reveal.

So they don't remember Observers either?

I don't remember what episode this happened in but they finally explained how the peter thing worked. The observers didn't get involved as much as they did, apparently peter caused observers to get heavily invovled. Well September our friendly observer saved peter in the lake which caused a huge ripple effect in reality, which caused the observers to be very involved in time. In the alternate timeline September never saves him which allows peter to die.

quote:

I don't understand why Nina would've adopted Liv and her sister. Why would Peter being "deleted" change that?

I don't think they explain this, there are some crazy changes that make no sense that happened in this season.

quote:

Dammit, Walter...walking out on Peter. Guess that's gonna take a while for him to come around. And him feeling like Peter is a temptation to see if he will repeat his past mistakes is a weird way to look at it. But cool nonetheless. And as always, John Noble is awesome.

yeah I don't like the peter and walter thing to much. Kinda flips what happened a couple seasons ago or maybe last season. Walter now hates peter.

quote:

This "perfect day" with Peter and Liv (in his dream)...that looks an awful lot like the same day the Observers came and they lose Etta. Is it?

I think so.
