URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED
TORNADO WATCH NUMBER 195
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
950 AM CDT WED MAY 28 2014

THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A

* TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF
SOUTHERN LOUISIANA
SOUTHERN MISSISSIPPI
COASTAL WATERS

* EFFECTIVE THIS WEDNESDAY MORNING AND AFTERNOON FROM 950 AM
UNTIL 500 PM CDT.

* PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...
A COUPLE TORNADOES POSSIBLE
ISOLATED DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH POSSIBLE


Tornado Warning til 10:30 with possible roation near Sorrento moving NNE at 20 MPH



So Far today:

Edgard [St. John The Bapti Co, LA] EMERGENCY MNGR reports TORNADO at 5:32 AM CDT -- EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT REPORTED POSSIBLE TORNADO DAMAGE IN EDGARD INCLUDING A BLOWN IN FIREHOUSE DOOR...DOWNED TREES AND DOWNED POWER POLES. MANY LOCATIONS IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA WITHOUT POWER.

Garyville [St. John The Bapti Co, LA] PUBLIC reports TORNADO at 5:32 AM CDT -- PUBLIC REPORTED TO LOCAL MEDIA A POSSIBLE TORNADO NEAR THE MARATHON OIL REFINERY IN GARYVILLE.

Gramercy [St. James Co, LA] LAW ENFORCEMENT reports FLASH FLOOD at 6:35 AM CDT -- LAW ENFORCEMENT REPORTS HEAVY RAIN IN THE GRAMERCY AREA LEADING TO MULTIPLE FLOODED ROADWAYS AND WATER BEGINNNING TO ENTER A FEW STRUCTURES.

Not worried about tornados, but the rain scares me.

I get nervous whenever we have storms now. I never used to care. Living here is awful.

Warning up now. These will be tricky non traditional tornadoes. There won't be much lead time, not like tracking super cells.

just a few twisters hopped up on crack, nothing to get all bent out of shape on.

like this broad rotation near white castle, needs to be watched in case it spins up.

basically, we get more "tropical" tornadoes, usually short lived, somewhat powerful small twisters.

The area to watch now is pretty narrow from say Franklinton back down towards Baldwin. Cells that pop up and move across that line will be moving through a brief window of conditions favorable for a quick spin up.
