Obama's kids eat high on the hog.

The children just love Michelle Obama

What are the Obama kids eating? Is it a 'healthy lunch'?

By contrast, the prestigious Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., where the Obamas send their children to school, serves school lunches designed by chefs. This week, for example, they might enjoy meatball subs, BBQ wings and ice cream, in addition to chicken curry, deviled egg salad and the “Chef’s Choice.” Other options on the exclusive menu include:
?Crusted tilapia
?Herb roasted chicken
?Pesto cream & garden-fresh marinara sauce
?Roasted edamame & Shitake mushrooms
?BBQ sliders
?Pesto pasta
?All-natural rosemary chicken
?All-natural beef nachos
?Baked three-cheese lasagna
?Pepperoni flatbread pizza

Y'all just don't get it. Michelle's kids aren't fat little losers like yours.

Typical liberal BS - it's good enough for the masses, but not good enough for the elite.

This, like so many other things, could and should be produced here in the US. Why can I not buy a light bulb of any kind made in the US?

On topic, healthy eating is fine, and we should provide a healthy meal if we are going to provide a meal. However, anything healthy can become unhealthy if you eat way too much at a setting. Research how many calories a public school meal has in it. My child had the option of roughly 1200 calories every day.

The biggest problem I see at my kid's schools isn't so much what they're given to eat, it's that they don't have time to eat what they're given. They have 25 minutes for lunch and that includes the time it takes to walk from their classroom to the lunchroom, go through the line and sit down to eat. By that time they sit down, they have about 10 minutes to eat.

I have no problem with them getting healthier options, but give them a little more time to eat.

I actually stopped by my son's school and had lunch with his first grade class yesterday...at 10:15 in the morning. You are correct, time is certainly an issue. Likewise, I have no issue with serving healthier lunches, but at what cost?

Yesterday's menu was a turkey wrap (mine was actually pretty good, though it was a "parent/teacher" version so it was bigger, soggy french fries, apple sauce and then some kind of baked beans which had been drowned in mustard.

My kid ate the wrap and the sauce...but most of the kids didn't even pick at any of it. A few drank their milk or ate a bit of the apple sauce.

Now...which would be better. A meal that statistically can be called healthy or one that may be slightly less healthy but one they will actually put in their damn mouths and eat so they are not hungry for the res of the day? If they don't eat it, it's irrelevant how healthy it is.

Actually, it's not a bad thing...let them get mercury poisoning, things might change for the import market...

I agree with all of this. My daughter would come home hungry every day because she wouldn't eat or would be eating too early. I had to stop letting her have snacks before dinner when we get home in the afternoons so she would eat her lunches every day.

I say offering them a healthier meal. If they're hungry enough they'll eat it.

Yes they will. I did when I was a kid. I hated pot roast, and if I wasn't hungry the night mom made it, I didn't eat. If I was hungry enough, I ate it. My kids are the same way. We make one supper, and if they're hungry enough, they'll eat it. If they're not, they won't, but they're not getting something else.

That works at home. Teachers aren't going to force your kid to eat. They will wait around with food on their plate until they are made to go back to class. They don't have even 10 minutes to sit around and decide they don't have any other choice.

I fail to understand the problem here, besides school lunches sucking which was the case when I was a kid, and likely when my parents were kids

So, extremely exclusive, expensive, private schools serve better food than publicly funded private schools?

No, Mooch's kids eat like pigs while poor kids eat starvation rations at her suggestion.

Perhaps if she is worried about someone eating healthy she needs to take a look at her fat arse.
