So the soon to be ex wants me to get into yoga. After a few weeks of saying no,I decide to oblige her...in a way, I agree to do this 30 min class on youtube.

not as bad as I thought, but really kinda pointless, My hammys do sting today. So now she wants me to go with her to class.....but I'm like "why?" just do another video. Why do I have to sign up for $100/month classes(that has limited spots, and you aren't even guaranteed openings when you get there)....when I can just follow someone on the TV.

A gym, I get, there are machines and weights.....Yoga,aerobics,dance are just a mat if anything at all....you just follow someone's yelling.

Why are people drawn to these needless group exercise settings?

Many peeps like to gauge their workouts with others and this helps them continue on. Sort of like a competition, if you will....

I actually hate group exercise classes. I feel more self conscious in them, esp if I'm not familiar with all the moves.

But many women love the classes. To them it is more motivating than doing it at home. And many socialize with other women in the classes. They met new friends in their classes.

You would love my fiancées group exercise classes. Only costs 35 bucks a month & usually it's just 2-6 people per class. Real private & all levels of fitness.

because they are lazy, self conscious fricks, never seen anyone stay with fitness that had to have a "workout partner"

Hot yoga is actually pretty good. None of the karma bullshite, just a good 90 minute stretch that leaves your heart pounding. Plus chicks in bikinis are good and the instructors are reliably good-looking. The only problem is that it's basically doing yoga in a mild sauna, that's what gets the heart rate going so high.

That doesn't sound too bad. Another reason I never really did the classes is because of my schedule. I usually work out right when I wake up in the afternoons before going back to work. So like 2-3 pm. Most classes at my gym are either in the am or at 5 or after 5.

They have a huge assortment of classes that I would possibly try...just not at times I'm at the gym.

One group class I actually did like....spin classes. Again though....not at my usual work out time.

A True OT baller tells his SO he will only participate in au natural all female yoga classes.

Makes her believe it's how his inner child can be truly liberated. And this new freedom is for her own good.

Inner chi. That's were it belongs.

do you want to do the exercises right or not?

thats what an instructor is for

same as when you start lifting weights.

certain things need to be done in certain ways if you want them to do what they are supposed to do

This. Yoga is incredibly good for you, but you can't just start from scratch on your own.

"Group exercise" is such a thrown around term now a days that it's hard to know what it is. I've seen trash trainers charging $150+/mth for crap, I've seen great trainers charging peanuts. Usually the most successful ones are the ones that market themselves the best or have some gimmick. Rarely does it matter if the training is actually good/safe/effective.

Eta: $35/month with 2-6 per class? She broke, lol
