So I just watched the final scene of The Sandlot over and over...

...it really looks like Benny was out when he tried to steal home.
Here is the final scene/steal.
Don't get me wrong, I love this movie; it's my #1 sports movie of all time, and is chock full of more childhood nostalgia for me than prolly any other movie I've ever seen, but I'll be damned if it doesn't really look like Blue misses that call. It looks like the catcher tags his left forearm as he reaches across to touch the far side of the plate.
Which brings me to another point: what a horrible slide from ole Benny "the Jet" Rodriguez. Instead of sliding inside and dragging his RIGHT hand across the corner of the plate, he turns and sort of rolls over to touch the far side of the plate with his LEFT arm. WTF? Had he made a better slide, it wouldn't have even been close IMO.
Thoughts..??
We know he knows how to slide:
Anyway, my favorite sports movie of all time.
And as always, shoutout to the most awesome villain in movie history:

I watched this today with my boys for memorial day. Still too young for war movies. Sandlot is the greatest coming of age tale ever told. All you Stand By Me homos can EAD.

Catcher just tried to make a tag...anywhere. And he seems to tag the forearm.
Also, looking at the gif of Benny sliding to retrieve the Babe Ruth ball, he did almost that exact same slide (where he rolls to grab the ball), just mirrored.

I watched it on ABC Fam this afternoon for the 1st time in a few years. Made me go to IMDB to do a little where are they now research (I remember seeing that Yeah Yeah is a complete douche recently) but I hadn't checked on most of them since that SI article a few years ago.
I never realized Smalls is the same dude from Black Hawk Down and Mystic River. But the coolest trivia for me was seeing that Old Benny the Jet is young Benny's brother IRL.
