Yes, Livingston Parish has school on Memorial Day. LINK said it had to do with state testing and release of LEAP scores coming out, but most other parishes ended last week.

That sucks, MS has state tests scheduled for the same days statewide, some hell would be raised if anything happened on Memorial Day.

Not sure...I know some friends' kids didn't have to take finals if their grades were at a certain level and they had perfect attendence or something like that. It would suck if you were one of the few who did have to take finals when all your friends or siblings didn't.

They have to take their finals because they didnt do well enough on the state test. If they did well enough they would be at home.

That oughta inspire them to do their best this time around--seeing as they're all probably pissed off for being punished!

Ms state tests were a couple of weeks ago. However some local school districts still decided to have a weather make up day today. Pretty ridiculous having school on Memorial Day.

My poor kids got screwed. Started the school year earlier in LP, then we move to Tx, and year doesn't end till next week. 2 weeks added on both ends.

I get what they're saying.
But lets be honest. Do the kids even know what Memorial Day is? I think they get out of school for too much shite anyways. Hell, they got THREE WEEKS for Christmas. Make those little shits go to school and enjoy Memorial Day with adults in peace.

Those must be the dumb kids. My daughter goes to DSH but her grade averages were high enough to where she was exempt from all of her exams. She had her awards ceremony this morning as a matter of fact.

LP has school this week because they got off 3 weeks for Christmas break this year which was stupid
