The LSU Tigers take on the Florida Gators this afternoon for another SEC Title.

Thought I'd share this article about the 1961 LSU Baseball team.

My friends grandfather is John Bailey the Tiger that scored the winning run. Their family shared this article this morning on Facebook so I thought I'd share it.

Some crazy shite went on back then (when I was young)! Imagine OM, Gumps and other SEC teams were similar with that?

I know it's a very different era and that was the prevailing attitude in the south but it always blows my mind that they wouldn't even compete against teams with black players. Are you afraid of getting beat? If you considered someone to be inferior to yourself, you should be confident that you're better than them and set out to make an example.

Not exactly. The SEC title has already been awarded to Florida based on the regular season conference standings. Today's game is for the SEC Tournament title and the SEC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
