I was installing my rudder the other day and had the center hatch and compartment out. There was a large piece of gray foam under the seat/deck. Is that there for support or for shipping? I pulled it out but I held onto it in case it's supposed to be there.

I don't have a Jackson, but I'm pretty sure that you should keep it in there. Is it in the way?

That is for support/flotation.
Im surprised it wasnt glued in, but you can just stick it back in there and it should be all good.

Yeah it's in the way if I want to store rods in the boat which I don't do anyway.
Because it wasn't glued or permanently attached some way is why I asked if it was needed. It was just wedged in there between the columns that make the scupper holes.
