If Your Team Relocated to Another City, Could You Still Root For Them?

I know many Oilers fans could not do this with the Titans but people often become as much a fan of the players as they do the team. I'd have a hard time rooting for Drew Brees to fail if the Saints moved.

I think I could stick with Titans because it is rare for me to ever make it to a game, but the Grizzlies moving would absolutely suck.

I am a Gamecock 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. So although I prefer different pro teams to others I don't have any super allegiances to them so I don't think it'd be that hard.

For example I'm moving to College Station next Fall, not far from Houston where the Texans have 3 Gamecocks starting on their defense and are owned by a Gamecock so I might find myself rooting for them when I never have before.

With that said if somehow South Carolina didn't have a football program anymore I don't know what I'd do.

it would be easier for me to cheer for them, than to randomly pick another team and try to create the same kind of passion and interest in them as i had for the original team

If TB moved, I'd be all-in with the Jaguars.

Edit: If UF stopped playing football and basketball, then I'd root for GT.

I can't imagine a scenario where I wouldn't root for the Cowboys. I've moved to CT, LA and always kept up with them. Distance from my team hasn't stopped me, I don't see why it ever would.

I didn't grow up in Dallas though. I've only been to one Cowboys game in my life, so I didn't grow up attending them like some people do.

I guess if I grew up with season tickets and they left I might feel betrayed or something.

No. I'd probably abandon that sport altogether.

Hell no, happened once with the Sonics....I also couldn't just start rooting for a random team, more than likely would just be indifferent to the sport

The Jaguars didn't exist when I started watching, otherwise they'd already be my #1 team.
