Just got back from watching Godzilla (enjoyed it BTW), and I swear to god AMC has lost its god damn mind with its advertising. First they start you off with an annoying circle that continues to mutate and then repeats itself for about 3 minutes, then the circle reminds you to turn off your cell phone, then we get more commercials, and finally the previews. After the previews, they've now stooped so low as to have an inflight safety video, which lasts for another 2 minutes, then they yet again remind you to turn off your cell phone, and finally have one last little advertisement on beverages and popcorn and telling you that the movie is about to begin.

We have Malco Theaters up in Memphis, they show the commercials before the showtimes, then the previews, and then get straight to the movie. Does AMC just want me to go to a theater that isn't marketing their annoying theater for 10 minutes? I've already paid the money to you people, so please shut it.

/Rant

I hate AMC...literally 30 minutes of advertising and previews before each movie. And I find the theaters aren't kept up that well.

Check out The Grand on George O'neal.

They repeat the same three commercials on an endless loop. After the credits and before the next round of commercials... you hear the audio of those same three commercials on a loop.

I remember years ago a lawsuit against movie theaters claiming that movie times were false advertising.

Wish it would have been successful.

Went to the 11:30 showing of X-Men Days of Future Past this morning.

11:54 is when the 20th Century Fox Logo began to start the film.

shite is ridiculous.

It is even worse if you go to one of those special event shows. I think they had a solid hour of advertising loop before they showed the doctor who special.

I remember walking into a movie late (atleast 30 minutes late) and we didn't miss a second of the actual movie

It was so late in fact that the movie wouldn't actually sell us the ticket to see that movie. We bought another ticket and walked into the movie that was supposed to start a half hour earlier

I never show up at an amc theater at the posted time so this doesn't affect me.

I did just barely make a movie once when it started only 10-15 minutes after the posted time. That was shocking

AMC is brutal. I once went in on time and saw the climactic final scenes of the movie I went for because their times are so messed up.

Throw in the grimy seats and sticky floors and I just generally avoid them.

Yeah those red dot commercials/warnings/stateents whatever. There's 17 of them and they never end.

And that's why I see 80% of my movies at Alamo Drafthouse. It's more expensive but the experience is so much better, and I even like their "commercials".

It's annoying as shite. The commercials. The red ball guys. Seemingly 20 minutes of trailers. More red ball guys. Gotdammit, it's pissing me off again.

Saw Xmen last night and someone brought an infant. It takes a special kind of inconsiderate a-hole to bring an infant to a movie. If you can't find a babysitter... stay home.

Since Rave sold those locations to AMC it's been on the decline in quality and management IMO. Like you said. They pad it with that 35 minutes of programs and commercials and all that other "in flight stuff" before the previews start which is still 5 minutes after the show time advertised.
