is fairly easy to predict...

Saudi Arabia orders 1,000 lashes and ten-year sentence for editor of website that discussed religion

The Saudi leaders are disgusting barbarians, repeating the crimes against humanity committed by the likes of Spanish inquisitors before the Western world found it wise to divorce itself from religious control of their governments, and warning us of the very real dangers HERE of affronts to our Constitution.

It's Rex's Law that those beliefs which are most contradictory to good sense are those which are and must be defended most violently. Mohammed, for example, must never be criticized because he can't withstand the light of criticism.

Rex, are you aware that the church and state are not separated in England, Norway, Denmark, Greece, and Iceland? Why do you have to take this heinous crime and universalize it to all religions? Islam is more vile than Christianity, and I don't give a shite if that offends people.

Has Saudi Arabia done anything remotely as barbaric as slaughtering tens of millions of unborn human beings? I doubt they are as defensive about Mohammed as liberals are about abortions or gays.

Why would you agree?? There are plenty of writers who discuss religion here and none of them are sentenced to 1000 lashes and 10 years in prison. What does this have to do with the United States?

One born human being > tens of millions of fetuses

What does this have to do with the United States?

Look up Ted Cruz, Rick Perry, Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, Mike Huckabee, etc., and Dominionist Theology.

What happens when the State becomes all powerful and takes the place of religion? Stalin and Mao ring a bell?

The state is a religion fwiw. They have sacred texts. Religious ceremonies. Chants. Idols made of stone etc.

Religion has caused just as many atrocities as your examples, and arguably more.

How about a corollary, what happens when church and state are separated? It is fairly easy to predict, just ask the citizen of North Korea, the former Soviet Union, Cambodia or China.

Are you insinuating that if religion stays out of gov't the result is North Korea or the Soviet Union?
