Word Mastermind - 5 letter words

Use five letter words to guess the hidden five letter word.
This is a little easier than Mastermind in that they tell you which of the letters are correct or in the correct spot.
The hardest part of this game, once I figured a strategy, was getting words that I've never heard before as the answer.
I used to play this all the time in the car to pass time person vs person...where we are just told how many letters are used in the key word, and how many letters are in the right spot.
Takes a lot more guesses though.

Yeah. But youre not on the clock and you get the definition. 
I grew up on mastermind and this predates lingo, but it does follow the game model for lingo more closely.

My strategy is that my first few guesses are always the same words that have common letters.

Siege. Took 5 attempts. My strategy was to make my initial guesses use as many letters as possible, especially all vowels to find all letters used in the word.
