First link is Marine Corps Times, They say.

quote:

“pattern of intemperate behavior and language"

Second link is Military Corruption.com, they have a more interesting story.

quote:

"At a party thrown by his headquarters staff, Merna, who was a bit tipsy, told one of his staff officers he 'acted gay.'

"Turns out, " one of our confidential informants reported, "the (deleted) is a homosexual, and reported the unforgiveable crime (of being annoyed by the truth) to the commanding general - who, in full PC-mode - fired Merna."

To be fair, we don't (yet) know whether that's the story, and we might never know.

Now, if a MEU commander is getting the boot just for that, then yeah, Amos' initiative to run the Corps like a corporation is going too far.

Hard to take that second link for fact when the guy says stuff like "politically correct pussies".

Even if it did happen like that.

I have all the info I need on Amos being a POS. I got a brief from him in Germany where he said that he didn't know what unit those snipers that pissed on the dead Taliban came from. Even ordered the Sgt. Maj. not to tell him because he didn't want to be biased. Then it came out that he interfered in the investigation. frick him

Which is why I didn't comment and just put the two articles out there. But as GT23 has commented, this seems plausible based on how Amos is conducting business.

Yeah, I mean I can certainly see him cultivating an environment where this is going to be more of a standard because for some reason he seems to be buying into some romanticized Officer and a Gentleman ideal for professional warfighters.

However, for the moment, I'll give him the slight benefit of the doubt because I don't want it to be true.

On a brighter note, he's gone at the end of the year. Right?

I won't. The Commandant of the Marine Corps straight lied to my face and the faces of dozens of other SNCOs and officers. He's the worst commandant in a generation. Maybe in the history of the Corps.

I'm having a hard time thinking of a more loathed Marine General Officer.
Jones apparently sucked as a National Security Advisor and Krulak Sr was such an awesome Marine that I think he inadvertently screwed up our National Security establishment, but I am at a loss.
