A couple of months ago my girlfriend and I went to grab dinner at like 8:30. About six hours later she woke up puking and had food poisoning for the next two days. Her doctor said it was probably something she at at Pei Wei. It wasn't until she picked up her prescription that the dry heaving stopped.

Just got back to work from our second trip there. I got my food in about ten minutes. Twenty minutes after we ordered someone finally came and asked my girlfriend if she had gotten her food. A few minutes later someone else came to check on us and asked the same thing. Obviously she hadn't. After thirty-five minutes we had to get back to work and she still had not received her food. Went to the cash register and talked to a manager(?) who was absolutely useless and pretty much told us "tough titties." The kitchen hadn't even started to make her meal and they wouldn't give us a gift card to reimburse us for the food we ordered but didn't receive.

Pei Wei: Shittier customer service than Popeyes (which is saying a lot, IMO).

I find the food to be decent at Pei Wei in Chicago. Always have found the customer service to be adequate.

Thats pretty messed up.

Ive been once and wasnt impressed. We ordered and they said they were doing free drinks that day so ok cool.

We get to the drink machine. Of course its that giant contraption that has every drink/flavor combo on the planet that comes out of one tube. So you have to water between drinks so I dont get orange drank in my whatever.

Well the ice handle is so far back that the ice doesnt go in the cup but shoots out of the machine. Ice all over the ground and they have the smallest mat there for the water. Ice melts all over the floor and its slippery as hell. Good area for someone to fall and sue the place.

We waited about 10 minutes for the food. It was average.

Probably wont be going back

First time I went, it was good and service was fine, so I suggested Jones try it.

Well when he and I went, wasn't so great.

The place was an absolute mess. When paying, we tried to order soft drinks and the girl said they're free today.. okay, awesome. But no.
Those touch screen drink machines have GOT TO GO. Unless they can greatly improve them, I'm not in favor.

Firstly, the floor in front of the machine is covered in water.. so much that if you're wearing pants, the bottoms are wet. Not to count how dangerous that is. As we stepped up to the machine after old people who don't know what it is finally stopped gawking for 15 minutes, we realized the source of the ocean on the ground is that the ice does not land in your cup. It shoots out beyond the cup onto the floor.
Then we go to select drinks, and the only available ones are Mello Yello, Diet Coke, some random Fanta, and a sparkling water. Thank goodness I managed to get a little Diet Coke before it ran out.

Don't trick me in line and tell me the soft drinks are free today. Just tell me you're out of anything worth a shite (besides my beloved Diet Coke) so you're not charging people.

They made little to no effort to clean the mess all over the restaurant, and they weren't packed enough to be unable to.

I didn't mind the food both times I've had it, but that last time was annoying.
It wasn't so bad that I'll never return, but I'm in no hurry.

Honestly, every single business in that center makes me want to bang my head against cement when I go, so I just avoid the shopping center altogether.

There has to be something that you are leaving out. I would have demanded a refund. I have never in my life had someone say no to that. If they really did and that is the true story I would be writing an email to someone higher up in the company.

I had issues with a drink machine once. Emailed corporate. Had a $10 gift card two days later.

I'd rather them just not use these crappy machines. Or get repairs.

Although those digital machines suck, I've never had one shoot ice all over the floor before. Seems like something a tech for the drink company could fix.

The lady and I went once and had a fine experience... fast service, solid food, no problem at all. Guess we caught a good day.

ETA: You bet your arse I had some orange drank.

The touch screen seems to use the touch screen technology of about 1998. More often than not you have to give it an elbow off the turnbuckle to get it to register your damn button presses.

It's a cool concept if you like soft drinks, I guess, but it just kinda falls flat in execution.

This. Can't say I would ever go back to a place that had given me food poisoning. Even on the off chance that it was not the restaurant that had actually made me sick, I think the queasiness factor would prevent me from going again.

We probably could've eventually gotten a gift card but since it had taken us so long to decide the food was never coming we were already late getting back to work and didn't have time to argue.

My wife goes to that place all the time -- she works overnights in the hospital and hits it up on her way in. I think she's nuts. I ate at one in Houston about a year ago and thought it was borderline inedible.

I don't understand why anyone would go there. Too may other options at too many price points.

Went and ate there for the first time last night. Got some sweet and sour chicken that I took two bites of and didn't touch after that. It was bland and disgusting. Not to mention it took 20 minutes for them to prepare when the place was practically empty.

It's Chinese fast food and their primary clientele are college students. Customer service and food quality probably aren't all that high on their list of priorities.

I've had food poisoning before and afterwards, I had zero desire to ever return to either of the places. Even the thought of it made me ill. Not sure how or why she'd go back to the same place that quickly.

Not that I think Pei Wei is great food or anything, but this is bullshite. There's literally no way it took 20 actual minutes for your food to come out if they were practically empty.
