When Tin Cup was caddying for Simms and hits that shot...what was so remarkable?

It seems that all he had to do was hit it.

He didn't have to worry about the rest of his shot count for the course or what other holes have in store and the subsequent pressure that amounts. He had no stake in the betting. All he had to worry about was his caddy job (percentage of winnings and a coupe hundred bucks) and he didn't warm up.

So, was that 240 yd shot over water to the green that he nailed and said every one of the other pro players there could have hit that hard of a shot?

I see GB posters hit that shot on command.

All day.

I'd say there was a little pressure on him, but hey what do I know.

That and rustiness would be the only thing.

Did McCord really carve a 7 like nobody's bidness?

What was that all about. Why 7?

Why not 4 iron? That's the real mark of the beast.

The tech in clubs weren't as good as now. 240 wasn't so easy back then.

I consistently bomb 3 woods over water land them on the green and put so much spin on them they back up all the way into the water.

Just because the tour pros could hit it, doesn't make it an easy shot.

Like you said, he had no warm up and was hitting the shot from the rough if I recall. That isn't an easy shot by any means, and given the fact that he is a caddy mouthing off to tour players it would only ramp up the pressure.

12 at Augusta is only like 125 from the teebox but it makes a lot of the best players in the world look stupid when they can't execute a shot they have hit successfully 100,000 times.
