Bow:

-Deep Cycle
* Trolling motor
* Fish Finder
* Front Nav Light

Stern:

- Cranking Battery

* Motor
* Rear Nav Light
* Bilge (Alligator Clips)

Is it okay for me to run the TM and electronics off of the deep cycle together, direct to battery?

Should I run the front nav light to the rear cranking battery where the rear nav light will be tied in also?

I know a switch panel would be ideal, but I really dont have anywhere to put one...

Typically, everything but the TM is wired to the cranking battery, but your scenario will not hurt.

Only way I've ever done it.

When I added a FF to my bay boat, I did not want interference from the TM, so I bought one of those small 12 volt Cabela's batteries. That thing runs the FF forever. I charge it occasionally, and have never had it run down.

Start here [link=(ftp://69.2.51.153/pub/Catalogs/DonovanSaltwaterCatalog2014.pdf)]Donovan Marine[/link].

For the Nav lights I always used a 3 position Push pull switch. That way push in is off, first notch is stern lights, second notch is both bow and stern lights.

For the battery I would run a cable between the two and install a battery selector switch.

Thank You. I was concerned with wiring other items to the TM battery.

I definately have enough room to run FF and Front Nav wires to the back.

It will be a while before I get a FF, so for now I will just run the nav to the back and somehow rig up a small switch panel.

I will take a look at the selector switches, I saw quite a few diagrams with those last night. Although this is just a little 15ft aluminum so I dont want to get too involved with the wiring.

First position should be stern light only rather than nav light.

This sounds like a great idea. I might run the FF on the small stand alone battery, TM to deep cycle, front nav to the back.

Im slowly but surely getting motorboat life, will just need a little guidance.

lots of good advice above.

if no one has said it yet, don't run your transducer wires in the same bundle as your power supply wires.

I did this as well to avoid interference it has worked well. I got a riding lawnmower battery at Wal-Mart and it runs my large fishfinder for days.

Even if your power supply for fish finder is separate, you can get interference from other wires if they are in proximity to the transducer wire is my understanding.

I also ran all of my wiring inside of plastic conduit the last time I changed it out, which I had to do because of mice chewing wires creating shorts.

It cost me an extra 8 dollars to put it all in conduit I think.
