so....I had no idea with all of the other potential RBs brought into camp we were looking at him there. Who the heck would play LB if he played RB?

Two links for you -

Check the notes at the bottom...

And then....

quote:

Another detail to emerge was that Fabian Johnson played right back. Johnson spent the vast majority of the calendar year playing that position for club side Hoffenheim, but given the glut of right backs in camp, it was thought that Johnson would slot into left back. Time will tell if Johnson remains at right back or moves to the opposite flank.

It's either Chandler, Parkhurst, or Beasley.

I still think Johnson will be left. Besler and Cameron in center. Davis at right.

He means Evans. Getting the Brads confused.

We will be so fricked if Evans starts.

If Jurgen really does view Cameron as a CB, the backline better be Chandler-Cameron-Besler-Fab

If Fab and Zusi are on the same side, they could provide some sick overlapping play imo. Zusi can track back too for when Fab wants to get forward.

We'll see.

Fab seems to consider himself more of a midfielder than a defender, apparently. He can play both positions, and he definitely makes things happen when he gets into advanced positions. Both he and Chandler can play at either back position or on the wing, and that gives us a lot of flexibility. Thank god.

Yep, but everything I have read this past week is that he has been working almost exclusively on the backline in this camp.

If that's the case, and given Jurgen's comments about Cameron and then the fact that we called in so many RBs, I would pretty much bet my left nut that we run a back line of Fab-Besler-Cameron-Chandler. But don't quote me on that. I like my nuts.

I think we have thrown out every possibility that Jurgy could throw out at all positions. So I'll need someone to reference the post of what Jurgy actually does and why it's going to win us a cup.

Might there be any exceptional left-sided attackers in our group that Jurgen is gameplanning for?

So we're using a LB at RB and a RB at CB against Germany and Ghana? awesome.

I would probably be about as pissed off at Jurgen if that was not our starting lineup, then if Donovan didn't start. I know there is a reason I'm sitting at my computer with my dick in my hand and not in Brazil, but its a no brainer right?

I get what you're saying, but it's not as bad as you make it out to be. Again, Fab plays there for his club. Also Timmy Chandler has a lot of pace down that right hand side, much more than Cameron, and both Johnson and Chandler can play LB, RB, RM, and LM. Cameron is positionally aware and an excellent passer who is great (underrated, actually) with the ball at his feet. You want him in the center, and definitely not out wide, for all 3 games... especially against Portugal. That last statement isn't a knock on Cameron for not having pace, but I figure after we get burned by Ronaldo, Chandler will have better recovery speed than Cameron would.

I think Donovan starting or not absolutely depends on how he shows in camp. That said, an on form LD is one of our top 3-4 players still.
