Nigeria violence: 'Boko Haram' kill 26 in village attacks

quote:

The Islamist group Boko Haram has been accused of killing at least 26 people in attacks on two villages in north-east Nigeria, close to where hundreds of schoolgirls were seized.

Gunmen killed nine in the village of Shawa and a further 17 in Alagarno, police and witnesses said.

WTF is wrong with these people.

On top of being murderous, kidnapping shitbags, they're morons. They draw MORE attention to themselves at the absolute worst time. They must all be on meth or something. Seriously.

They kill the men by burning them in buildings or slaughtering them like pigs. Oh yeah cue outrage #bring back our girls instead of #you can't bring back the dead.

Am I an a-hole? Because this not reporting on the other half of the issue gets under my skin a little.

This is on top of their bombings earlier that killed over 100 as well.

Park of me wants to feel bad. The other part of me is sure this has been happening for a very long time, and wonders why we only care now. What is this drawing my attention from?

It hasn't been in Nigeria. Boko Haram came on just a few years ago. And this recent action is much worse than they've been.

Right, they're not really responsible for what they do. It's because of meth, or inequality, or imperialism, or american exceptionalism, or some other cause imported from the west.

Gun ownership isn't illegal in Nigeria. You do have to have a permit but it's not rare like Australia or England.

True the Muslim extremism in that country is pretty fresh compared to other parts of Africa.

Serious question..why don't we just go into these places and kill this stupid mother fricker? Wouldn't the local government/forces there welcome us?
Once these girls are found, there will be no acceptable reason this stupid idiot is still alive!

Had we not just been in 2 long, drawn-out wars, plus several other instances of military involvement (Yemen, Libya), we probably would.

I like Whiter Shade of Pale, I can't believe they'd do something like this.

No. Just stop. If we wanted to be there, we would be.

ETA: our overseas numbers are probably lower than they've been since the first gulf war.

This! And it's not like it would take an entire infantry. I'm sure we have intel and pretty much know where to look for the assclown.

Our want to be there is directly related to how many other places we've been recently.
