someone got into my truck last night and got my Sig P239 with black leather holster, and a carry bag with all my rain gear

I hate a fricking thief...

would it be bad to post the serial # on here in case someone runs into someone selling one?

====================================

Update!!

====================================

STPSO dispatch just called...

Picayune PD just arrested someone in a raid that had my P239 on them

I have to wait until Tuesday due to the holiday to pick it up...wonder what kind of condition it is in....

either way

The only thing I hate worse than thief is an irresponsible gun owner.

I mean what the frick? Secure your shite so that your weapon is not used in the murder of an innocent victim.

My house has been broken into twice and neither time did the thief find any of several firearms. I've always been of the mind that if one of my firearms is used to commit a crime, I am partially at fault for that crime.

Being a gun owner requires RESPOBNSIBILITY, you are responsible for that firearm. I've been seeing too many posts about weapons being transferred into the hands of criminals lately.

SECURE YOUR MOTHERfrickING shite.

I understand the sequre your shite part, but what if the gun was secure? Locked vehicle, locked console. Or either of the two. Thief breaks in and steals. What else can you do? You have yours hidden. If a thief has time he will find them and then you will be irresponsible. There is not an end to all for securing a weapon from theft. Lock it up and that is that.

So your saying that if somebody steals my gun, shoots somebody with it and gets caught, they should run the numbers, come pick me up, and let the trigger man go?

The man behind the trigger is the one responsible.

You are implying that the triggerman wouldn't be able to acquire a weapon if it weren't for my stolen piece?

To the OP, hate that your piece got stolen. I've been there, it sucks.
I believe in securing your weapons, but do I need to disassemble and keep all the firing pins in my pocket?

What does this even mean? Why are you blaming the gun, and not the criminal? Are you suggesting that the pistol in question is the last remaining gun on the planet? Or that the criminal could not acquire a gun by any other means then to specifically seek out this pistol in this specific truck?

If a bad guy wants a gun, he'll get it. To suggest that him securing his gun would prevent an innocent person from being harmed further down the road is ridiculous. What if the criminal got frustrated because he could not get his hands on the gun so he grabs a baseball bat out of the garage and proceeds to beat some one's head in? Secure all bats!!!

C'mon, man.

For real though, to the OP... lock your shite up. I'm just not going to blame you for second hand, unintentional, thrice removed, support of murder.

Don't laugh to hard because he is right. Have a friend who is a lawyer and a guy was brought to court because his gun was stolen and used in a crime. He had to prove that the gun was locked up in his own house.

Use a different friend if you need a lawyer - all you would need is a police report if this ever happened. Also, secured - doesn't mean hidden out of sight...

The only issue I have with WT post is he says his guns were not found. This seems to imply they are hidden not locked up. In which case he has not secured his weapons.

I don't leave my guns in my vehicle because it is easier to break into a vehicle undetected and steal the gun than it is to break into my house. This does not mean that an unsecured weapon in your home is more secure if your are not there though.

When we leave town or when there is a baby sitter over my guns all go into a large heavy safe that is locked.

When I or my wife are home there are firearms accessible at all times. Since I rotate my carry weapon depending on wardrobe, I have the full rotation in my closet. The same for my wife. These are moved to the safe and locked up when we are both away from the house.

Gun ownership is a right and responsibility. IMHO any person who has a firearm stolen should be concerned about the future life of that firearm. We should all do our best to keep them out of the wrong hands.

That being said, sorry to hear about the theft man. I hope it turns up soon at a pawnshop.

I agree, and I agree with most of what WT said as well.

I just don't like the idea that the OP is at fault if his gun is stolen and used in a crime. I don't care if my front door is unlocked and a shotgun is sitting right behind it. If someone grabs it for use in a crime, that doesn't make me a gun runner supplying criminals tools of the trade. It just makes them a thief.
