Can a tv just turn on by itself?

So what's really weird is I went back to sleep and an hour or so later I swear it felt like someone was shaking the end of my bed. But try as I might, I couldn't move.

Probably can be explained through simple scientific reasoning:
1. You drank too heavily last night, and passed out on the remote control.
2. While you slept, a ghost reached under your pillow and grabbed the remote.
3. The ghost wanted to watch the Adam&Eve infomercial chicks.
4. There is a sticky residue on your face.

My parents had a tv that would turn off on its own. So I see no reason why one couldn't turn itself on.

Most TVS have sleep timers built in to the menus. Maybe you rolled on the remote.
