Garden & Gun article on a Creole Cottage

quote:

A chemical plant operator from Franklin, Louisiana, Stirling grew up in a suburban tract home, of the sort that you might see anywhere in the country. But he had long been fascinated by the old Creole homes nearby—unique and dripping with a sense of place. “I used to always see these houses vacant,” he says. “They called to me.” And here was his chance. “This is my project, and I’m going through with it,” he told the loan officer.

Beautiful house...I'd buy it in a heartbeat...would be a bit too rustic for Mrs. Golfer, though...

It's like everything I've ever known about them is a lie.

Only comes out every two months, one of the few magazines I will read from front to back, until I have to read why Kentucky is or is not part of the south.

I would spend a copious amount of time drinking George Dickel and smoking cigars on that porch.
