Looks like a trinket and I would bet dollars to donuts I could break it with minimal effort

No offense, but it's not a good knife. BUT, you get what you pay for in general.. It has a lot of function for 20 bucks. Any way to stretch that budget upward a tad? I'd focus on the steel type \m/

*revised below* 440c is the knife's steel, and that's actually pretty good. i hadn't seen 440c being used in so long i'd almost forgotten about it. it will lose an edge a little faster than some of the harder steels, but it's not garbage!

Ordered the S&W Black Ops 4 from Woot a few days ago. Had it for 19.99 normally around $60. Anyone own one?

IIRC, AUS8 is soft. S30V is used in higher end knives ($100+). One of the only knife steels still made predominantly in America. I believe SOG uses VG-10 in most of their knives

I don't find it is, but somebody used to 1080 or something like that would think it was impossible to sharpen.

I have a rough piece of ceramic that works really well. A normal steel doesn't work worth a damn.

I have an ESEE-5, and it is one of my favorite knives. Hard to go wrong with a blade that is 1/4" thick

I would eventually like to get a 5 but I think the 4 would be a good carry in between a 3 and 5.

Maybe one day I will have a 3 4 and 5.
