Free game app on android and iPhone.
Literally takes 1 appendage to play. Great time killer. Lots of collectibles. Tons of combinations to try out. Awesome leveling system means constant rewards.
Definitely worth checking out.

I hit my high score of 1170 like the 5th round I played and I swear I haven't been anywhere close to that since. seems like they up the difficulty

Easily. It auto-attacks so you can just press the screen and hold and forget about it as you go through levels chopping/stabbing/shooting/magicking/whatevering enemies (who you get to use as pets once you get them as treasure).
Plus the different combos of weapons, armor and pets give you different powerups depending on what you have in each slot, so there is some strategy involved.

Level up your speed to hit faster and dodge more.
Get better armor.
Get a pet that gives you better bonuses.
Level up your vitality to boost your defense and HP.
Get a better weapon that deals more damage so it kills them before they have a chance to attack.
Level up your power so you deal more damage and your Luck to get better critical hits and more gold and treasure.
Just keep holding your finger (or whatever) down and you'll level up in no time.
