hortly before New Orleans lost its bid for Super Bowl LII, New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson took a fall in the meeting room and went to the hospital, Saints spokesman Greg Bensel confirmed Tuesday afternoon.

Benson, 86, tripped coming off the podium after speaking to the owners to pitch the New Orleans Super Bowl and hit his head, Bensel said. Benson left the Ritz Carlton hotel and headed to the hospital to be tested for a concussion before flying back to New Orleans, Bensel added.

Benson arrived at the owners meetings only a couple of hours earlier just in time for the Super Bowl voting process. He moved around with a walker after having knee surgery to repair a torn medial meniscus two weeks ago.

If he has to miss any work, its a good thing this happened in Georgia and not Louisiana. That bill he is behing would have really screwed him out of some money

Thanks Goodell. An Old Man goes humpty dumpty trying to get his city a Superbowl that he may or may not be around to see and he doesn't get it because your stamp has to be left on every thing the league does.

Will the podium be suspended for a year due to an obvious bounty program?

The Company who laid the carpet on the dais has been told to surrender two 2015 potential hires.

Don't let the good hair fool you, this Commish plays for keeps!

I'm sure it hurt his pride more than anything.

Regardless, best wishes for a speedy recovery Mr. Benson.
