Just moved to BR a few months for work and have been to Nola a handful of times now. This weekend we went to Frencman St and really enjoyed the music scene. The ppl seemed a littler classier too than what you get on Bourbon. What are some other cool areas or bars in town?

I really don't like that place. Vic's, the Australian bar right across the street, is much better.

Tipitina's - legendary venue on Napoleon/Tchoup. Pregame at Ms Maes or 45 Tchoup a few blocks away

The Maple Leaf - smaller venue with shows almost nightly. Rebirth Brass Band every Tue, Johnny Vidacovich Trio w/ guests (George Porter Jr, June Yamagishi, John Scofield, etc..) every Thursday. Oak St

Joy Theater - newly renovated on Canal. Beautiful venue with great acoustics.

I haven't been to the Saenger since it reopened but will be seeing Jack White there in a few weeks so I am stoked for that.

If you don't know who Bill is you're either younger than 25 or don't go to Madigan's very often

This. Just start hopping into bars and chatting up the locals and go with the flow. They can tell you where to go in each of these neighborhoods.

I think a good place to get a non-local going with a good vibe is Bacchanal in the Bywater. Go in the early evening and relax. Here is their website. LINK
