Trying to make their way thru our urban and suburban streets? I know with all the clueless drivers here in orlando it's got to be a stressful job.

It's a lot. Trust me. I'm a paramedic, and I can't make it through a single sentence without at least a little profanity. You know what else pisses us off? When people refer to us as fricking ambulance drivers.

Do you not drive an ambulance?

Without a doubt, one of the duties we perform is driving an ambulance, however, when your on your back, trying to breathe your last breath, do you want an ambulance driver or a paramedic?

Yeah but how are you going to even get there if you don't know how to drive an ambulance?

Actually, no, I don't. Well, under very rare circumstances. My service runs a paramedic and a basic EMT, so I'm always in the back. Every once in awhile if the EMT calls in and they can't find another, I might get a paramedic partner and be able to rotate calls. It's like a vacation day when that happens.
Anyway, to be honest with you, the whole "ambulance driver" thing never really bothered me, personally. I mean, it's slightly annoying, I guess, but I do know some people that get fricking pissed off about it.

A friend of mine used to be a driver for Rural Metro here in Orlando and he said it's ridiculous. Trying to get down I-4 during rush hour is pointless because they still can't get through the traffic. I'd go nuts with road rage if I was him.

Meh, it's the same as calling firemen "hose jockeys".. which they are.

Yea. To be clear, the idiots on the road only make up the smallest fraction of all the reasons I swear. It's everything else about this job. I frickin' hate it. After 17 years, I'm just about ready to quit and go work in a factory.
Growing up, I wanted to be a pilot. My plan in high school was to join the military and get trained that way. My eyesight made it impossible. I couldn't really afford to go the civilian route. And there was literally nothing else I wanted to do; flying had been my dream for as far back as I can remember. Anyway, my old man was a medic, so I said "frick it, I'll do that." Needless to say, if they ever invent time travel, the first thing I'm gonna do is go back and beat my own arse for even thinking about going into this line of work.
