Who in their right mind would go along with one night where murdering people is legal?

I think the premise is very plausible

it's not very realistic that out all crimes that are legal that everyone chooses to kill others and not something like rape or stealing

Only people with a true to desire to kill would murder. Most would do something to better their positions and steal.

I'm sure you'd see many politicians supporting a Purge (sarcasm)

Some states don't even use the electric chair, and you think that premise is is plausible

There is some background that is left out. Obviously there was some kind of breakdown and rebellion. The "new" founding fathers came up with the concept to get of the riff raff and lazy people. Plus they could be harder on crime (zero tolerance) if they allowed people one night a year to live it out. It's not plausible now, but in a few decades, who knows where overpopulation, pollution and poverty might get us.

Btw, the new purge movie looks pretty awesome.. LINK . I like that it is a whole new cast and storyline..

This movie was one of those rare cases for me where the movie was so stupid that it was actually enjoyable.

It makes total sense that giving sociopaths one day out of the year to satisfy their urges would be enough for them

It would do more harm to the general population the other 364 days of the year.

Just imagine. You could trust absolutely nobody. Your best friend could be a serial purger.

And there would have to be some kind of safe zone or something. You still think that the public wouldn't be outraged over a kid being killed?

Bidding to kill people? Sounds a lot like the last Hostel movie.

Wow that movie looks worse than the first one by a mile.

I like the idea better, the first was just blah to me and I liked the movie. Getting stuck outside while the purge is going on could happen if it were real.

The first one I would have killed the boy for opening the door

I could definitely see a Pageant Moms scenario with episode 3.

Are you serious? One of the dumbest and non-plausible ideas EVER. No society would allow people to just kill, rape etc... that breaks one of the key cornerstones of civilization and government. That of protecting the masses from outside AND INSIDE threats.

the excuse the neighbors used to try and kill the family didn't make any sense as they would also have had plenty of money if they lived in the same neighborhood

I think they were mad because they made all their money off everyone in the neighborhood. But I am not sure havent seen the movie in a while, might have to watch it again soon
