Did you get a job or benefit in another way just because you graduated from Catholic? My son is at Catholic right now and is doing fine(honor roll-10th grade) but I am thinking about switching him to St Michaels . He is driving now and I hate the traffic he deals with to go back and forth to school ! St Mikes is only 7 minutes away and barely any traffic! I want to switch him but hate to if being a graduate from Catholic helps him later on in his life!

Stay at Catholic. Much better school and alumni base.

If he gets the hell out of BR like he should, his HS connections won't matter.

Not true. There are plenty of people that have moved out of LA that went to catholic.

Why should he leave? He is my only child and I don't want him going too far!

you're thinking of making him switch schools because you don't like the traffic that he's got to deal with?

Yes he has to take the interstate from Highland and its a damn mess! I am afraid of him getting in a bad wreck! I know it can happen anywhere but IMO he chances are greater dealing with B.R traffic daily!

No he really doesn't like the drive! He gets stuck in traffic alot and it takes over an hour sometimes to get there or home!

My younger sister just graduated from St. Michaels and the number of students they had going to community college or worse, nowhere, shocked me. We had maybe 3 people from my class at Catholic go to BRCC while plenty got scholarships all over the country.

Dude, I live half a mile from St. Michaels and still went to Catholic. Not once did I ever regret that decision.

Initial high school jobs? Yes it helped me there.

Future job acquisition- no help there because I went out of state for college.

The school did help me significantly in being successful later on because of the social infrastructure and network I created. I would keep your son there.

Sounds to me like your mind is already made up.

CHS alum here. I loved my experience there and it has given me a handful of connections since. Even with guys that were ahead of or behind me in graduating.

Don't move your son because of traffic. That's just retarded.

As ridiculous as it may be, people who say connections don't matter are kidding themselves. 20 plus years on I am amazed at how this opens doors to conversations.

Ignore the haters, and the deniers, but if you are in a field where business deals and transactions occur (and don't just read this as being in sales), connections go a long way, especially in the South, and even more so in BR.

Being a Catholic alum and having been in a fraternity with a good alumni base has helped me immeasurably in business.
