Seems weird. Is Colston really still good enough to make that list?

There's a few I don't agree with. I don't really have a problem with Colston being included, but I'd imagine that there's a lot of players left off of the list that you could definitely make an argument for.

Here's what they had to say about Colston...
quote:

One of the least-publicized top-quality receivers in the league, Colston is still an incredibly productive weapon even with the toll eight years can take on a big-bodied receiver operating significantly out of the slot. A fantastic option over the middle (throughout the year he caught 62 of his 88 passes between the numbers), he consistently moves the chain in New Orleans.

Best Performance: Week 14, CAR @ NO, +4.8

Key Stat: Finished the year with the fifth highest amount of yards of any wide receiver from the slot (590) while also finishing fourth in that area with five touchdowns.

No way you can accurately rank players at different positions

This is where the aggregation of advanced metrics can be a bad thing.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but what I believe they do is they essentially have a rating system where they are scored based on how they perform versus others at their same position. So when comparing overall, they use that as a guideline to see how dominant they were for their position, but not necessarily how valuable they were compared to players at other positions. They don't take into account the different values each position has.

Solid troll attempt, but Wilson is one of the rankings I don't agree with. I'd bump him down into the bottom 25% of the list somewhere. I think they put a strong emphasis on efficiency and yards per attempt and not necessarily volume statistics in regards to Wilson.

ok he might not should be 1 but as low as they have him, he was integral to leading his team to a super bowl win...he did well against the broncos d that was very good all year. granted his defense was superb against the broncos in the super bowl...i just feel he doesnt get enough respect for him being a smart and effecient QB

what other metric should be used besides efficiency?

Russell Wilson being in the top 50 devalues this list a ton.

seriously? the QB who won the super bowl shouldnt be in the top 50? sure he isnt peyton or brees or even rodgers but good god the guy is as smart as all three put together and doesnt make many mistakes on the field...so he doesnt throw for 50 and 5000 every other year...does that make him any less valuable to his team? no

Yes.

According to this list, he's the third best quarterback in the league.

He's maybe a top 10 quarterback.

Then again, this list has Calvin Johnson at 35. Overall, it's a shitty arse list that relies too much on some stupid formulas or fancy stats.

would you have R. Wilson in the top 100?

and besides peyton, brees, rodgers and brady who would you put ahead of him?

Dez Bryant had a better season than some of the WR on that list.

How does a WR who plays with a 5k+ QB and doesn't break 1,000 yards or 10 TD make this list over a guy with 1200 yards and 13 TD?

I see his explanation for Colston, I just don't really follow.

Colston only dropped 3 catchable balls out of 78 attempts last year. Which is near the top of the league in rate.

PFF is awesome. They don't just use traditional stats to rank players. Blocking and other scenarios are factored as well.
