What to do with a recovered stolen car

My MIL's car was stolen from her driveway last week. The police have arrested the thief and recovered the car, but it's 10 hours away in Dothan, AL. The car is a 20 year old Nissan, so I'm not sure if it's worth driving all the way over there to get it back here. What are my options? Anybody in S. Alabama need a cheap car?

Is probably worth less than the gas money for the round trip

If insurance is going to pay on it let them deal with it.

I told her to call them and see, but I can't imagine them paying a claim if the car has been recovered.
I asked my wife if they knew if the car was in the same condition as it was when it was stolen, but we're not sure of that, either. I do know that the thief had a key, so it wasn't hotwired or the ignition was not broken.

This is kind of what I'm thinking as well- I'm just not sure how to go about getting the car out of her name so that we can cancel insurance, etc.

Who keeps full coverage on a 20 year old vehicle? Donate it to me and I will go get it.

A '94 Nissan is up there on the list of dumb things to go to jail for.

If there is a car max there sell it and take you a weekend beach vacation with the proceeds.

A salvage hard might give you 200, might.

Did they at least leave the Creedence tapes, man?

if ins. has paid her, it's their car now, if they've paid and don't want it, go over there and sell it for a few bucks
