He was also just put in the top 20 of Todd McShay's 2015 Mock Draft.

These people just know LSU pumps out good DBs and go for the first name they can remember. He is our 3rd or 4th best DB, maybe even lower after Ed and Jamal see some PT.

I like Jalen at safety, but come on.

We've barely seen Mills' potential. He knows the defense and is a solid tackler. Don't count him out.

That is what I was thinking, just saw CB by his name and got confused.

I think he's going to be lights out at safety. Great tackler and should be the best cover safety we've had in a while.

Will be a 1st round draft pick. Take that to the bank.

This is very important. And another thread about Chavis defense is floating around that mentions this also.

I saw Loston improve in his "QB'g of the defense" in the latter part of the season. He would move guys around and lo and behold, they were in the perfect position to either disrupt the play or make the play themselves. It's no coincidence that at the same time we saw an improvement in the defense as a whole at that time.

If Mills has this down I have no doubt both he and the defense as a whole (assuming the young guys on DL are doing their job) will be solid. If other guys are not getting it done, the safety usually finds himself out of position to make up for that and both he personally and the team don't do so well.

I think you're wrong. I think he's off the board next year when round three starts.

You think he's better than Tre White and Rashard?

Not a chance. He's a good player no doubt, but he isn't elite. Should be a solid safety, not a first rounder.

This kid is starting to get my vote for the #18....which I know most of y'all hate. You come in and work hard, and if you lose your spot you work so much harder that the coaches have to put you back on the field. He's showing why sports is comparable to life.

I can't wait to cheer for him this season.

White and Robinson should be first round CB talents. Mills has really made a name for himself and scouts are taking notice. No one is denying the other two players talents...Just stating that Mills is why we are DBU. He can play both Safety and CB.

fwiw, he didn't lose his spot. There were injuries and poor play at safety and he had the skillset to fill that void...and he excelled at it.

He won't be a first or second rounder due to his size, but he's an exceptional tackler and has great cover skills for a safety. Reminds me a lot of Ron Brooks, but with better cover skills. He's going to be damn good next year.

After you get better and you don't get your spot back. You lost your spot. It happens, ask Drew Bledsoe.

He wasn't injured and he wasn't benched against A&M like some people think. RR was just a better matchup outside against Mike Evans, so they put Mills at nickel. I'm pretty sure he's listed as a starter for that game because they listed all 3 CBs.

I know for a fact that he was moved to Safety due to Corey Thompson's injury and inconsistent play from Rickey Jefferson. Was he going to lose some reps at CB because of RR, definitely, but they never intended to bench him...Raymond and Chavis absolutely love him.

Ron brooks had excellent cover skills. Much better than Mills.

I do like Mills at safety though and hopefully he plays as well there as he did in the bowl game. He's definitely an upgrade over our other safeties when guarding man to man.
