Louisiana No. 3 for worst ROI in taxes....

No. 3: Louisiana Average annual state and local taxes: $6,564 It isn’t the greatest place to get an education (it ranks 50th) or to take a road trip (its infrastructure, as every New Orleans resident surely knows, isn’t the best, ranking 44th in the nation). But at least Louisiana residents pay less in taxes than residents of most other states.

Still better than MS.
And Arkansas.
Would it be worth paying additional taxes if we were guaranteed infrastructure and educational improvements?

We have paved roads on a swamp bed. What do they think the driving conditions are gonna be like? Duh......

I'd be cautious about the guaranteed part because of this:

I wonder if MS politician conspire to keep the state in a perpetual state of despair and poverty.

I'd rather live in Arkansas than MS.

“For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants[a] and entrusted to them his property. 15 To one he gave five talents,[b] to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away. 16 He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents more. 17 So also he who had the two talents made two talents more. 18 But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid his master's money.
Guess which one we are

Well, yeah. I'd rather live inside a volcano than have to live in MS.

Agreed, just a completely hypothetical scenario. We definitely need to fix the waste first. However, I hear people complain about the situation all of the time. My question is do we become California? (vote in every perk and never vote in more taxes), or would we be willing to pay the taxes required to live in first class situations?

There's really no way to talk about this without sounding super racist. I'm out.

I honestly don't think state taxes are that high in Louisiana so I would be willing to pay a bit more if it meant that I could keep the shocks on my car for another year before changing them.

Certain parts of the state, like the MS Gulf Coast, are vibrant.
Other parts of the state, like the Delta, are not much further past the 50s or 60s in general.
I'm not sure it's the politicians as much as that the economy of the area was greatly dependent on agriculture, railroads, and river transport. The switch to highways kicked their arse and hasn't stopped yet.

Happy I left that shite stain of a state

Have started seeing "Fix My Street! I pay my taxes" yard signs popping up in certain areas of NO. A long-simmering issue.

Maybe before Katrina, but not anymore. Not even close.
