Five Reasons why LSU finishes 19:
1.No shortage of talent
2.QB uncertainty
3.Front seven on defense
4.Which receivers will step up?
5.Best OLine in the SEC?

Offense:

LSU’s leading passer (Zach Mettenberger), leading rusher (Jeremy Hill) and three leading receivers (Odell Beckham Jr., Jarvis Landry and Hill) from 2013 will be playing on Sundays in 2014, so the Tigers will have to lean heavily on their dominant offensive line and stingy defense early.
It’s been awhile since LSU had a full-blown quarterback battle, and the competition between sophomore Anthony Jennings and true freshman Brandon Harris could extend into the regular season. Regardless, it’s been awhile since LSU was this young at quarterback, and both players are likely to see snaps this season. Jennings and Harris offer vastly different skill sets than Mettenberger, a pure drop-back passer who excelled last season under coordinator Cam Cameron’s tutelage. Jennings and Harris are skilled athletes who do their best work on the move.
Heralded running back recruit Leonard Fournette is too talented to sit for long. By midseason, he should see the majority of carries. The receiver corps is talented but woefully inexperienced. The Tigers desperately need either sophomore Travin Dural or newcomers John Diarse, Trey Quinn and Malachi Dupre to emerge as a playmaker.
With so little experience at the skill positions, look for the Tigers to lean heavily on their talented, experienced offensive line. Senior left tackle La’el Collins leads four returning starters.
Defense:
quote:
The Tigers must replace several key players who bolted early for the NFL Draft, but there’s more than enough returning talent and experience to once again rank among the SEC’s stingiest units.
In terms of depth and sheer athleticism, few teams anywhere can match the Tigers across the front four. Ends Danielle Hunter and Jermauria Rasco will give the Tigers two of the top edge-rushers in the SEC if they can become more consistent. The playmaking Hunter (6'6") appears primed for a breakout season. Defensive tackle remains a question mark, but Quentin Thomas, Chris LaCouture and a trio of talented redshirt freshmen in Maquedius Bain, Greg Gilmore and Frank Herron could provide answers.

so we'll win the national championship.

Every year they try to predict the fall of LSU. So, I'm guessing they have Bama, Auburn, and Ole Miss ranked ahead of LSU. I just can't see us losing all three of those games. 2 out of 3 wins IMO.

LSU gets shite on every single year in these preseason college football magazines.

LSU to finish 4th in the SECW
I highly doubt this.

19th Nationally
Possible, but still far down for what I would consider a good SEC team.

This is the same magazine that had us 3rd in the west in 2011 in preseason

I don't believe Athlon had Auburn ranked in their 2013 national poll. Shows what they know.

These people need to hurry up and go out of business already.

Not sure anyone really expected Auburn to make that kind of run.

LSU is not finishing 4th in the SEC West.
Every year, they tell us about the decline. Every year, LSU wins at least 9-10 games, often more.
This team is loaded and guys are going to step up. The offense will come together. We have great talent, great coaching, and a favorable early schedule. I am not saying that we win every game, but we are going to be better than people think on offense.
The defense is going to be nasty.
Sounds like a formula at LSU for another 9-10 win season at least.
Who beats LSU?
Auburn?
Alabama?
Who else?
Not Florida. Not Ole Miss in Tiger Stadium. Not Miss. St. Not Texas A&M or Arkansas. Wisconsin lost more than we did and doesn't have the talent to replace what they lost.
LSU is going to be fine. I see us beating Alabama and losing to Auburn, to be honest. But, if the defense can really step up, the Auburn game is winnable too, and not just because we beat them last year. Jordan Hare is a nightmare to play in, though, and that crowd will be crazy.

We get Ole Miss and Bama at home, we get UF early enough to where it's a toss up. There is no true loss on the schedule. Our toughest games are toss ups. We split two of Bama, Ole Miss, Auburn, UF and win our bowl game like 2010. We then come in like a bat out of hell in 2015 with a better offense and better defense.

Right, but that's the point. No one knows in May how games and teams will unfurl in November. History reveals these preseason polls are seldom accurate.

Don't really know how you can say no to Florida & Ole Miss. Playing on the road in that environment could be a struggle [especially since we play AU a week before].
This is the most experienced Ole Miss team in the Freeze-era. I've yet to see LSU take Ole Miss as seriously as they should.

Green QB's worry me, especially on the road. I'd take nine wins right now, because of inexperience at QB.

Exactly, I see 8 or 9 wins before the bowl game.

Ole Miss and wait for it.............Texas ranked ahead of us.
