Picked this up yesterday, and while it shouldn't be taken entirely serious (he is a comedian after all), there are many valid points and observations in it. If you have never listened to Adam Carolla's podcast, I think you are missing out. Very funny guy who isn't afraid of the repercussions in Hollywood for speaking his mind (he often gets labeled right-wing although I don't agree that's the case, more Libertarian if you ask me).

Most people have heard him going off about Occupy Wall Street, but ICYMI
Adam Carolla Rants about Occupy Wall Street

President Me

Book is filled with lots of rants about a variety of topics that affect Americans. Thought some of you might enjoy. FTR: I prefer the audiobook because he actually reads it so you can hear his tone of voice.

I love how Adam Corrolla continues to poke Hollywood limousine liberals in their sides without fear.

Adam is definitely a Conservative Libertarian, not a fan organized religion (Islam in particular), and isn't afraid to piss off anyone.

I'm a fan. Will check this out

I never get tired of him. I have read all 3 of his books, even though they are all pretty similar. And I never miss a podcast. Lots of entertainment. Although you can tell that his political views and opinions have taken their toll on the show because the guests have been middle of the road lately. But I would listen even if they didn't have a guest.

The Occupy rant was gold. I've had the same rant for about 10 years with our current entitlement generation.

It's easy to brush him off as "just a comedian" but when you look into his background he is definitely a guy worthy of respect. He grew up poor and when he asked his mom why she doesn't work she replied "because I would lose my welfare check." Instead of following in her footsteps and helping create and endless cycle of dependency through generations, he saw the problem and worked his arse off to get where he is today. Very smart and talented dude.

One of his sayings is : "I know everything because I know nothing."

This strikes me as profound. He was raised by people who did nothing and cared about nothing, so he was not indoctrinated with any beliefs while growing up. He was a blank slate and was allowed to form his own opinions, thus many of those opinions are based in logic gleamed from observation. He is the rare case of not following his family's tradition and breaking out of what he came from. Intelligence paired with a self taught work ethic is a powerful thing.

Much respect for him.

^^ I agree.

I had heard him say this numerous times. In the book he really lays out what he means by that and you nailed it. He is not prejudiced and can evaluate issues using an objective mind because of this. Built all of his beliefs on experiences growing up which did not contain religion or other, for lack of a better word, "distractions."

Carolla is what the republican party COULD look like if they dropped the religious right schtick. Fiscal conservative who values hard work and maximum freedom within reason.

His line of thinking is what can reverse the current trend in America.

Do you deny that the GOP's insistence on emphasizing social issues is holding them back?

America is dying for a fiscally responsible government, and a true fiscally conservative party without baggage would not lose anytime in the near future. The Republican party is its own worst enemy by one, not emphasizing fiscal responsibility as much as they should and two, overemphasizing issues that Americans are either tired of or disagree with them on.

Adam half gets it, which is better than not getting it at all.

Winning elections, and more importantly preventing them from focusing entirely on the parties roots.

What he says are half truths.

Meaning they are totally true on a certain level but with a greater understanding of the world and its systems these truths become irrelevant.

He's basically practicing t-ball level philosophy. Very rudimentary, low hanging fruit, easy jabs without recognizing the entirety of issues.

Ultimately he does get things like the government is bad and hollywood elite are scum, so that's good.

He just doesn't get the whole picture.

In order to fix things in this country, we're gonna have to fix the small things first. The overall corruption and disregard for constituents by both parties (really one party now) cant be addressed on a macro level within fixing the issues that they take advantage of to retain that status quo.

People are gonna have to wake up on an individual level first.
