BR Crime Stat Junkies: Are Home Invasions on the Rise?

An advertisement for a security/alarm system company on 102.5 this morning said:
"With Home Invasions on the rise..."
Is this true for the BR area? Did the pitch woman base that on a particular zip code? Did they lump in home burglaries with home invasions? I assume they based that claim on some skewed statistic. But then wondered if they were right. I know a few folks here have crime stats handy and can clarify whether this company is right, skewing stats, or flat out lying.

No in all honesty home invasion is my biggest fear as a victim. It's one of the most violent, helpless, and often hopeless situations for the victim. I don't want to believe there are actually more home invasions in this day of better systems and more armed homeowners.
