This bump really confused me.

The admins mass lock every thread after a few months. How did this one slip through the cracks?

article in today's advocate says the green light project foe expansion of Nicholson from brightside/lee to Walk-ons will start in 2019. It's a shame they at least can't start the project to fix the turning lane situation sooner.

The entire length of Nicholson needs to be four lanes.

This intersection was terrible 30 years ago so it must be a nightmare now.

It's on it's 4th redesign smh. Hopefully the next submittal will be a final one and they won't change the design again

The design of the Nicholson/Brightside turn or the extension from Brightside/Lee to Walk-ons?

The intersection improvements.
The extension to Burbank is still in the design study phase.

Nicholson @ Brightside Green Light ProjectWith a can of paint and a roller, they could make the intersection 100x better in one afternoon. Make the "right turn lanes" to "through lanes" and the current "through lanes" into "left turn lanes". BOOM.

And it should have been done 20 years ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone know the reasons for the continued delays on this project

It is 100% on the railroad. In Louisiana, like in most states, the railroads can pretty much do whatever they want whenever they want, and the state can't do a damn thing about it.

Agreed. If I have to go somewhere between Nicholson and Burbank on Lee (Mike Anderson's, Caliente) I always take Burbank. frick taking a left at Nicholson and Lee.

When I lived in Beau Pre off brightside, I used to take River road to Gardere (thats the road by the Box right?) then take Burbank to Lee to avoid that POS intersection.

Really can't find any recent updates on this project other than this March 2015, article which says the Nicholson/Brightside project should start at the end of the year:

quote:

team is currently planning the renovation of Nicholson Drive at Brightside Line/West Lee, and the project is expected to begin before the end of the year.

March 2015 Update on Green Light

That quote seems pretty vague. Anyone know what "start the project" means? Does this actually mean construction? Or are they talking designs?

It's because the railroad company also has to be involved and they need to get the ball rolling. I used to live off bright side and dreaded that shite.

It looks like they started doing work at/near the intersection. Anyone know if this is the beginning of the road construction? If so, how long will it take to complete the intersection?

Baton Rouge trying to say they have actual numbers for a prediction of traffic in 2030 is fricking hilarious

Not sure. But the fact that they started that shite first week of spring semester sounds exactly like something BR officials would do.

Anyone have an update on this project? Green light website said construction was to start second quarter of 2017. Figured we would finally see the start of construction during LSU summer school, but looks like there's nothing happening at the intersection.

I used to live off Brightside, I can remember racing down West Lee because if you were behind numerous other cars you were fricked and probably had to wait numerous other light cycles. There's nothing better than catching that light green, going across Nicholson up the railroad track at like 60 mph
