short version: Tulane Ave. going from 6 to 4 lanes, adding a neutral ground, left turns legalized, adding bike lanes, trees and landscaping.

People weren't allowed to turn left on Tulane?

The next big area to transform in N.O.

Nope, pretty much every place to turn has a no turn sign. It makes sense though, bc it backs up traffic.

That area will absolutely explode in two years. I cannot wait.

It really is remarkable Walgreens hasn't bought up a property on Tulane Ave. near the new hospitals. We're talking $2 billion worth of hospital development - a shitton of patients, family members, and hospital employees.

They will. The dumbass bean counters wouldn't allow the next year of slower than allowable business while the place ramps up.

More spots for the natives to sit on milk crates, play dice, drink beer and watch the working folks go by

It's my dream to see everything in between the Tulane Ave. and the Pontchartrain Expwy -- all the way to Carrollton Ave. become a condo/apartment high rise residential district. Shopping, hotels, restaurants acceptable as well. Of course, the prison has to be the fart in the room to stink up the place. RIGHT in the fricking middle of my planning zone.

After Katrina they should have built a new prision in the Florida area or NOLA east where no one would see it.
Instead it's the first thing you see coming into the city.

I take tulane to get to the dome so this is going to frick me up I am sure.
regardless, the change on tulane ave from 2002 to now is pretty apparent.

I've thought about that, but the criminal court building is right there. BTW, that court is beautiful inside. In a hundred years it will probably be a museum of some sort, with a new criminal court in another area of the city maybe downtown. The murals on the ceiling are ridiculous.
The outside of the court reminds me of the American Museum of Natural History in NYC. I'd love for this to be a museum one day.

Almost never.
And screw bike lanes. Those bikers are more hazardous than drunk drivers.

New prison is going to look impressive, and fits with the architecture in the area. OPP, House od Detention, Templeman, Community Corrections Center, and Conchetta are all being destroyed. You'll have three similar brand new buildings side by side instead of the 8 square blocks of motels, churches, schools, and warehouses which Foti turned into jails. Just saying, it'll look nothing like it does now.
