Suggest a fishing line

Got a sedona 1000. Will be used for wacky rigs and occasionally for light tackle for specks. On a ML rod.
I'm thinking 20 or 30# braid? Any other suggestions?

I wish I knew more about line. Which ones are less visible in clear/dark water, etc.

Sedona 1000?
That thing must be tiny.
Oh and 30# Power Pro

Fins Windtamer Braid. It's perfect for spinning reels

Yea, 1000. I wanted something light for wacky rigs. I still may exchange this 7' ML F for a 6'8" or 7'2" M XF. Haven't decided yet.
I kinda hate braid for wacky rigs but I think I'd hate small enough mono for this reel even more with it.

10# or 12# Berkley Nanofil. Nanofil is the only thing I would put on a light spinning set-up.
You'll find bad reviews on it saying it breaks, but it only breaks if you can't learn how to tie the right knot with it. If you use the right knot (5-turn double-line uni), it is far and away superior to power pro, suffix, etc... and I use strictly braid on almost all of my stuff so I'm not just saying that because I am anti-braid. It has superior casting distance, sensitivity, and abrasion resistance to braid. The only reason I don't use it more often is that it is only available up to 17# and is not rated for bait casting reels.
ETA: According to this LINK, the Sedona 1000 will only hold 65 yds of 20# Power Pro so I have no clue why people are suggesting 30#. You could barely fit a cast on there. The heaviest braid I would suggest on a 1000 is 12# honestly.

I feel like that link is off cause I'm pretty sure my 2500 has well over 95 yds of 30# power pro, but it still worries me. I never tried nanofil, how does it handle a palomar knot (pretty much all I use bass fishing)

ETA: not saying you're wrong, just never heard of people using palomars except for very thick line that wouldn't hold a regular fishing knot.

Your surprise confuses me. I have yet to find a strong knot that easy to tie

I agree it seems a little conservative on the capacity, but it is Shimano's website and Shimano makes PowerPro so I'm inclined to think it is pretty close. Even still, if the 1000 hold 90 yards of 20# line, one break on a long cast and you've lost a HUGE chunk of your spool. No reason you should neeed more than 10# or 12# on a 1000 size Shimano spinning reel.

Learn to tie a 5-turn double-line uni knot. It is the only knot I recommend for nano-fil. Almost every other knot significantly weakens the breaking strength of nanofil due to friction during the tightening of the knot. That being said, I have NEVER had a 5-turn double-line uni break on me using the 12# nanofil that I use. It is not difficult to tie and you won't be re-tying often if it is a dedicated wacky rig.

A lot of people use it for braid. I don't like it except for heavy monos and a double-line palomar for heavy braids but a lot of people only tie it due to it's ease and quickness. It is relatively strong, and more than adequate in most situations.
ETA: I would use it more often except for the fact that I know stronger knots for just about every application that from years of practice are just as easy for me to tie (improved clinch for mono, uni for braid 50# or less or fluoro, double line palomar for heavy braid, 5-turn double-line uni for nanofil)

I'm looking at 14# nanofil, or 10 or 15# power pro. The power pro is cheaper on amazon it appears.

I use it for almost everything except small bream stuff because the line is hard to double and fit through the eye, and 6# line is gonna break easily anyway so knot strength isn't a big deal. Catfish tightlining gets loop knots to tie on multiple hooks

Definitely will be the case. Hell check out academy if you want to go power pro. But if you only refill every 2-3 years, wouldn't you rather the better line?
You can get 150 yd spools of just about every size power pro right now at Academy for $10 online:
150yd 10# PowerPro

I don't wanna have to tie different knots

All I ever use is 12-14 # mono

I wouldn't use braid for a WR set up, just go with a flurocarbon line. I hear good reviews on Seaguar

Too thick for this reel, and it'll be one I throw in the yak when I hit the marsh in case I want to try for specks some, so I want something still strong enough to handle a red in case I hook up with one on it. Main use is wacky though.
