LINK
I haven't ben overly impressed by Vox so far but this is an interesting article.
It isn't a pro or anti House Committee article, but it paints the reason why even if they don't believe there is a cover up Republicans will still push forward with investigations.
In a nutshell it describes what's wrong with politics; favouring short-term personal gain vs. long term gains for all of us.
If you don't follow the link it's summed up nicely here:

There are probably 7,482,234 examples of this being the case prior to the Benghazi committee being formed. Why is this where they chose to draw the line?

This kind of thing isn't unique to just one party.

I don't think they are drawing any kind of line. Instead they are pointing out what's 'wrong' with politics in general.

I've been saying this for years.
We do not have an issue caused by liberals...nor do we have an issue caused by conservatives. The Left vs Right bullshite only divides us, the American people. Its a farce. The only thing on politicians minds, is re-election. Money and power are also their goals, but to them... money and power come as a reward for election/re-election.
In all seriousness. Take your personal opinions out of it... what is the difference in Obama's actions and Bush's? When Bush began all these spying programs, it was because he is republican war hawk. Obama continues to strengthen and support these same programs, and we say its because he is a progressive. Its the same damn thing, call it whatever you want. Put whatever makeup on the pig you want, still a freakin pig.
Bush begins TARP I, Obama starts the next round of TARP shortly after being elected. But, but, but Obama got us out of wars...HAH. Obama sent MORE troops to Afghanistan, and more or less followed the timeline for Iraq already in place. BTW, Gitmo and Guantanamo still open. Well, Bush started fast and furious... Obama selling weapons to Al Qaeda in Libya and now Syrian rebels (who have strong al Qaeda ties).
Same with senators and representatives. They serve themselves and their own party politics. Because that is how they advance their career as a politician. Trading favors to each other.
