I've been interested in getting one ever since I was introduced to one a few months back.. I would like a male puppy that I can bird train myself and as a family pet.

I googled them and see that the closest big name breeder is either TX or Alabama.

Does the OB have any info or know anyone that has pups for sale/on the way in LA?

All info is appreciated.

Buy the best dog that fits your needs, don't skimp on a long drive for one day when you are adding a family member for 12-15 years...

Yeah I agree with that..

If I have to go further out than that, is the process of getting a dog shipped here worth it?
I've never been through that before.

It is and thanks. He is about 3 years old. Don't hunt him, but had Boykins growing up and they are also great family dogs.

I just got a male puppy from Carey Knowles in McRae, GA Pup flew in on Delta and I picked him up at the cargo terminal. Pretty easy transaction. I know he still has some pups. You can google his name and check him out.

Got mine from Lazy Moon Kennels in Ashdown, AR. Contact me at

username @ gmail.com if you want more information. I think just googling the kennel name will bring you to their website. I have 2.5 y/o female named Bijou (see my sig image). She is great and they hunt their dogs.

I'm meeting my pup Friday. Breeder is Greg Copeland, Texas Trace, in Hempstead. He requires you come to his property for informal interview prior to adding you to his list. Just had litter of 11 dogs, I was third on list for a male. Chance you could get a dog from this litter. Fathers Day weekend is take home date.

Mine came from Alabama. Great dog and even better personality, and loves to hunt.
