In the last month, my son's batting cage outside (netting) has snagged a 7-inch box turtle and a rabbit.

Any recommendations for keeping critters away so they don't get trapped?

I think I have run through all of the tortoise and the hare jokes already, btw.

I don't see a problem. Three more and make a roux.

Yeah. I was thinking of velcro strips of some sort to keep the netting off of the ground. I just wanted to see if there was something else before having to deal with the hassle of that every time we use the cage. Thanks.

I like the idea of year-round rabbit. Wolves or no wolves.

I used to raise them. Got tired of always butchering.

They multiply like.....well rabbits.

But we never bought chicken for years I had them. Pen raised and tasty.

Our batting cage was on a system of pulleys that we could raise to keep it off the ground to prevent rot and keep it from snagging critters.

We got the net made a Champlain Net Company in Jonesville, LA so it was some gill net type material. We built the frame by welding drill stem ourselves and even had a tin roof. Surprisingly inexpensive for how great it all worked.

My aunt wanted to get in the rabbit business, hitting them with the stick turned her off...she called my Dad, who can kill anything with little remorse..and it was too much for him to whack em. We eventually let them all out in the pasture and my cousin and I shot every last one of them with a .22...we cleaned everyone of em.
