They give the Saints a 'A' for the draft. They seem to get what the Saints were trying to do.

I think the Saints swung for the fences there on two guys who could be boom-or-bust types. If they hit, they could be special.

Mid to late rounds are good places to go for the boom/bust guys. We got two VERY good players in the 1st two rounds. I'm really looking forward to Cooks.

these are picks where you have guys like rob ryan and joe vitt and you give them the talent and athleticism of fortt and powell and you say "turn them into mother frickers". They should easily be upgrades to Hawthorne, and Haralson's of the roster very soon.

Everything has to be judged with all of the facts considered:

They were drafting at the low end of the draft and had specific needs. They wanted a speedster at WR who was a proven product. Cooks was the only WR left that fit that bill and they had to jump to get him.

Baptiste is a semi project. The guy has the hands, speed, and agility of a WR...because that's what he was up till 2 years ago. Can he make the transition to CB at the NFL level? Maybe and maybe not, but the team felt they had the luxury to take on the project. Considering the players already on the team in the backfield, seems like a reasonable assumption. This leads me to my last point.

Take a serious look at the roster and see the depth at all positions. There's not many open spots there. People can point to Center and Kicker and bitch we didn't pick one. There's a reason. Would you want the Center spot to have a 2 year player (who wasn't a starter) and a green rookie manning that spot? I think they knew they were going to bring a vet from the get go. Goodwin, or someone like Goodwin, will be signed. As for Kicker, who was out there who is better than Graham? No one.

After the 2 top spots were drafted, the FO decided that the only chance a player was going to make the team (again, due to limited spots)was if he was a 1st or 2nd round talent and his true potential was clouded by injuries...in comes the "Cadaver Brigade".

That's how I see this draft.

I've watched fortt's highlites twice and if his left leg doesn't just detach one day I think this kid can really be good for us. Has great quick read ability and really flows fast from side to side.

Don't we usually get poor grades from the talking jugheads?

I remember the Hicks pick getting d-'s from everyone.

it's fun. i feel an obligation to point out how wrong blues is most of the time. He's like a Malcom Jenkins. He's talented, dedicated to his craft, was an assumed starter every year, puts in good work but would be a lot better if he just took some better damn angles.

I wish we'd have gotten ryan grant in the later rounds, but I was really pleased with the way it turned out

Love the optimism but try not to get too excited. There is little chance they both make the team much lass start. These are both clearly risk/reward guys. I think if one makes the roster we would be happy and expectations would be filled. If the other fills a practice squad spot they would be thrilled. You pick for special teams and depth in the 4th and 5th rounds. We took a chance on a couple of guys with potential to be starters. Let's not let our expectations get out of control.

Oh really. You are bashing Blues?
That's like Ingram bashing Deuce. Your opinion and views are not nearly as highly regarded on here as Blues. Personally I see you as a guy with strong convictions on gut feelings. Leave the heavy lifting to guys like Blues.

That's weird. Some guys on ATL radio were saying the Saints had the worst draft (of course the Falcons had one of the best) b/c we got "luxury" picks. They've seen the future and Cooks is nothing more than a slot receiver we didn't need to be used but a handful of snaps a game, Baptiste is just big but he won't be able to play corner, and Sunseri was a reach and a horrible pick b/c he won't play this year (not sure if they took in to account that he was a fifth rounder)

One of the guys did like Fortt though, so there's that. I was devastated. Surely ATL radio guy knows more about the Saints than we or even the coaches and front office do. Funny thing is, they couldn't specify what area we didn't address

I just shook my head.
