A mutual decision between network and creative.

Nothing lasts forever, and it's better to go out on a high note.

yet they wouldn't give Community a proper exit.

Didn't the shows have pretty similar ratings this season?

Yep, I think most speculated that the difference was NBC owns Parks & Rec while SONY owns Community. Thus, there's a greater benefit on the back end to add a few more episodes of P&R to the catalog that they wouldn't see from Community.

Should be an interesting season for Parks. I imagine they'll have some fun with the plot device from the end of the season finale.

Community is no where near the show that Parks and Rec has become

Sad to hear it. But all good things must come to an end.

Someone explain the last episode to me... specifically the last scene. Was washing dishes and wasn't paying too much attention.

I like Parks, but it's been on a downward trend. Community had a really good season this year.

They just time jumped a few years. My guess if the final season will cover the in between with the last episode highlighting where they were going in the elevator.

3 years in the future, Leslie is the powerful and capable Midwest National Parks director, headquartered in Pawnee, she's dealing with an unspecified crisis, Jerry AKA Gary AKA Larry is now Terry, and Jon Hamm is the new Jerry for some reason

No, the previous scene flash-forwaded only 1 month and showed that she had succeeded in convincing them to move the headquarters to Pawnee

my favorite line from the finale

Also, can you bring back Power Rangers? I don't know what it is you do, but you seem important enough to get that done

Here's an interview with Mike Schur hinting at how the time jump will affect the final season.
