Draft excitement

First time in forever that I can remember where the draft pick excitement equaled the order of rounds.
Usually, the Saints provide some ebb & flow to their selections. If you are not happy with Patrick Robinson as your first round pick, there's a Jimmy Graham selection in the 3rd round to make you jizz in your pants.
This draft got you super pumped with Cooks, kept you high-fiving with SJB, excitement waned with the first ACL, then even more with the 2nd ACL, then got ridiculous with the 3rd ACL, until you got to the last pick of WTF.

I would have to agree with you on that.

I agree, but I also trust the FO.

Couldn't have said it better myself. After starting great, each pick got a little more "meh".

I think I tore an ACL just watching the 4th-5th round picks.

No lie the last 4 weren't sexy, especially the injured defenders. But we are so loaded that we are taking flyers(you either take those or solid backup/special teamers at best players outside a gem or 2) late. This are guys with huge upside.
Hell JB is unlikely to see too much action this year. But next year after a year under Bailey he could either be starting outside or our nickel and would be outside once Bailey leaves.
Only guy I was excited about in after the 3rd round was over was Christian Jones and he still hasn't been picked. Wonder if there is an issue that hasn't been discussed with him. Don't know of any injury or off the field issues.

Oh this has not a comment on the players' talent. Just an observation on the entertainment value the Saints provided this year.

It'll be a race to the final roster for these late-round guys.

do people feel the need to immediately say this to any sort of criticism? its to the point of overkill. the FO isnt flawless. its as if people are terrified to say something negative.

I suspect at least 2 of our LBs come up "lame" and go on IR this year.
We were so deep that we are making next year picks this year. I just hope we can get them healthy, keep them healthy, and coach em up good.

I know. It is draft day and if you criticize a 5th round pick with a torn ACL, you have 5 guys in here jumping up and down saying, "TRUST THE FRONT OFFICE!!!"
Why even post on draft day? Why even offer an opinion other than, "EVERYTHING THE SAINTS DO IS PERFECT?"

the Sunseri Pick was a head scratcher for me.
he did play better when he changed positions though.
in 2012, I remember him getting abused more. I think he was the nickel back. can't be sure.
but he was a popular whipping boy for Alabama fans. I remember some guys from work talking shite about him.
but then he moved to safety in 2013 and played better. A lot better. No negative comments then but of course... the ACL...

If there's one area i dont trust them, its during the draft on defense.
However, as a Saints fan, I want to think that every player they take is gonna be good. So its hard to bash guys.
For instance, people saying Sunseri is "terrible"....Da fuq? Based on what?

I mean, safety?
Ultra non-need.

That's a ringing endorsement for a NFL draft pick...and we have 3 of them.
We need to see the names of scouts; I'm betting someone on that staff has a relative who is an Orthopedic Surgeon.

Same thing with OT. We have 4 but usually bring 6.
It's all about what upside you see with them. None of them will be starters this year and late round picks usually turn out to be back ups and special teamers at best.
Our great late round drafting on offense has gotten people spoiled.

Unless Ball sucks.

i guess maybe it shouldn't have been though... I mean the Saints went to the Alabama pro day and i had a feeling they might take somebody from there.
for a minute, i kind of got that weird nervous feeling they'd take McCarron. Kept catching the draft tracker on my phone while i was at a graduation earlier.
but i see he went to CIN right before we picked in the 5th
i had forgotten all about Sunseri to be honest.
