This is the guy he wanted. Said he was gonna be a stud.

Not to mention that this board was all about ODB given his speed. He just wasn't going to fall to us.

Some LSU guys wanted Landry > ODB and Cooks, but those are just some LSU homers.

Nice. Solid pick. #2 can't make the fricking field.

Nice bump.

I would be thrilled with OBD or Landry. Cooks looks good as well.

Ok?

This was a predraft thread

The problem wasn't with drafting Landry. The issue people had was with taking Landry in the 1st round when he was projected to go b/w 2-3

I was a fan of taking a WR in both rounds b/c i thought we had addressed corner in FA

I either wanted that or a Center in the 2nd.

How bad must this guy be if he can't even see the field with this sorry group of CBs we have. Even the UFAs are playing ahead of him.

there have been a few games the last few weeks where he could have gotten a few reps.

Cincinnati, Carolina.

did he even play?

I know he played a tad against Detroit.

PFF only has him with 8 snaps recorded for the year, all against Detroit

4 runs and 4 passes. He was never directly targeted, but was likely at fault for their last TD

BleacherReport or not...This writer wrote his article on May 7th.

He pretty much nailed his write up on us and was about as baffled as I was at times and asking similar questions during the entire draft process.

Looking back especially now...Marcus Martin in the 2nd would have lead to us being able to select Pierre Desir in the 4th.

I always thought of SJB, Desir, Gaines, and McGill as similar players that were not separated by much in terms of physical talent.

It sucks even more when you think between Bryan Stork and Corey Linsely that a C was still there for the taking in the later rounds and we insisted on passing them up, along with many others...in favor of 3 players that already had knee surgeries.

All in all just a terrible draft.

i don't get that at all.

what would we have had to lose by letting him play some last week against Carolina?

Exactly. How is this dude still collecting a paycheck if he can't even get into a game with a 5 touchdown deficit?

He may not have even been active, which was the case for most of the season. An even more telling sign of his skills, they don't even bother dressing him.

I honestly think if our corners were playing better he'd already be released by now. More than likely he gets released in training camp next year. Hate to say it, but he does look like a wasted pick. You usually want to see a guy get some snaps, especially in a unit where your star CB is playing through a knee injury and the number 2 spot has been in flux all year.

He was always a raw project. Year 3 is going to be when the pick will be truly measured.

Yeah you're right, and I hope he does work out. Any team can use a big-bodied corner like that in the modern NFL.

I still hope they go after a true #2 CB to cover the deep threats this year. Usually the "Ryan" system for the #1-2 CBs is pretty friendly to rookies because they are in man coverage most of the time. SJB would be a bit big/slow for that role anyway.
